Ready Seal - theres nothing close to it. It looks awesome on log cabins also and very easy to apply-User Friendly.

I soak decks with it (especially older wood) - I would rather spend a little extra on sealant and the job last longer. Anyone can get the first job, the key is getting called back to do it again in 3 - 5 yrs.

Can anyone tell me where you can buy ready-Seal I e-mailed the company and nothing so far.

Thanks

Jim

There might be a reason it is not listed this thread is from 3 years ago.

I use Sikkens SRD. They have a product that you can reapply to surface after a few years of wear.

I've done this same poll every year for about 5 years now and I've seen some even older. In every poll Ready Seal is the leading sealer used by wood restoration contractors.

Give it a try and decide for yourself, it's all we've used for years now. When you compare the cost, ease of use, availability and it's ability to penetrate into the wood without leaving a film, you'll probably be using it too.

SRD is a nice product. Doesn't film if you don't over apply it, and outlasts other things.

I have been using Cabot brand from Lowes with good results. I use Wolman products for stripping and brightening. Here is a fence that I did over at my parents house this week.

Man, this poll is almost as old as I am..lol

I wouldn't touch Behr, wolman or olympic with a 10' pole anymore. Don't even ask me about Thomspons! All I use now is Ready Seal.

This was the year I was going to give Wood Tux a try since it's been used on the market by a lot of other guys for about three years now but it looks like it's not as popular now, I wasn't really wild about paying that much more for it anyway.

Now everyones talking about Armstrong Clark and telling me I should give that one a try. If it's around in three years I'll look into it, I still won't test anything on one of my customers decks. I might try it on my own deck though or on my fence just to see how it works out. It's been about five years since I put Ready Seal on my fence and it needs to be done again.

I wonder if this has changed much?
With all the wood care products out there on the market today it can make choosing a product difficult. Expecially when you consider the differences in climate, wear and tear, and the lack of shade on a deck.

What products are your favorite? This should be based on cost, ease of applying, penetration of the compound and how well it holds up under use by the clients.

There are too many products out there for me to list so I'm just going to post some of the store baught stuff and some of the preservative agents I can think of off the top of my head. If you use something I did not list, please add it to the thread.
