Water Reclaim

As you know there are more and more regulations that are telling us what can and can not be put down the drain.
I live in California and it is just about the worst.
I have seen many types of reclaim systems on the market.
Some I like and some I don't
I have nothing to gain here so lets try to discuss the pros and cons of some of these systems.
For Contract cleaners there is a different need than a Trucking company.
Therefore they don't need the fancy expensive systems that cost upwards of $20,000.00. Most times one can be put together for under $10,000.00.
You just need to pick up the water filter it and dispose of it on site.
Some Distributors will tell you that you can reuse the water over and over again.
This can be done but, the distributor will see you about once a month for repairs on your pressure washer. Not the reclaim system.
Dirty water and pumps are just a bad idea.
The water has fine particles of dirt and sand that pass thru the filters. This gritty material is emulsified into the water and it stays in the water. It is like sand blasting your pump Packings, Valves, Unloader, etc.
They wear out prematurely from this dirty water.

The best way is to process it and dispose of it down a Sewer or toilet on site.
I will post more on this subject later.

Please feal free to ask questions.

I have always said that recovery does not have to be expensive, it just has to work. Reusing water is indeed very hard on equipment, I have a box full of bad unloaders to prove it.

Gravity and fabric filters do a good job. Polishing filters do better, but clog often if not set up right. Oil booms are good for oil, but removing chemicals is more complicated.

You could use a coagulant but it is about $175 for a 5 gallon buckett full. Ouite expensive,

There are many systems on the market. If you want the best results Clean the reclaim after every job and include the consumables into the bid. Throw away Filter cartridges on site if they are used up. Most of them can be used 10 times or more. You just wash them off with a garden hose in the dumpster.
A Basic easy system consist of a settling tank then a coelesing filter followed by some fiber filters and finally a polishing filter.
You can either use a Sump pump that can be run dry or a Vacuum to pick up the water. There is a pump to transfer the water out of the system to sewer.

Here are some Photos of Different systems
