Vegas

I was just reading the paper yesterday and there are so many great deals on some of the best hotels. The rates are next to nothing for 5 star hotels, they are hurting out there and this would be a great time to take advantage of Vegas.

Also you can take a short trip over to the Grand Canyon while you are there....

Depends on what you like to do. I have been out there a number of times. Each time, it has been business related, except for last time, about a year ago when my wife and kids and myself went out there, we were looking to move out there. I have walked the strip each time I have gone out there and that is a blast for me. It can be a very cheap vacation if you do not drink, gamble, or play in Henderson. Fun place!! You do need to make time to see the dancing waters and the volcano.

Her company has us booked at the Monte Carlo already for the two nights. Which I was told that thats one of the older hotels. We will have Tuesday afternoon and evening for whatever, i will be on my own Wednesday morning while they are in there big meeting thing, then all of the rest of that day. Then we are supposed to fly back mid morning on Thursday, so I am not sure if we would have time to run out and see the Grand canyon or any of the outlying things. Neither one of us are real big gamblers, we will play a few slots, maybe some video poker. Figured on doing some drinking in the evening times but didn't really know what else to do. I seen some stuff online about the fountains and the volcano, looks pretty cool probably gonna check them out. I also have read alot about the pirate ship battles. Has anyone seen that? Plus it looks like the stratosphere thing is pretty neat. I have been told I need to go to the old strip and watch the light show down there too. Oh yeah, mid February, whats the temp going to be like? Thanks for the info guys.

If you are only going to be here a couple of days you should do the stratosphere rides, see the Fremont Street Experience (downtown), arrange a helicopter tour of lake mead and the dam,(they're pretty cheap) and otherwise just walk the strip and take in the sights.

It will be relatively cold in Feb. There is no humidity so it feels a little colder than it is. Look for weather in the 40's or so.

Thanks for the info Tony, not sure what I was thinking when I listed the first dates,we are gonna be out there the 9th, 10th and 11th of Feb. That helicopter tour sounds like a pretty good idea, I hadn't even thought about that. Listening to Rush today, he was broadcasting from out there, wish he was gonna be there in a couple weeks. I am makeing plans to go visit the pawn shop from Pawn Stars while we are out there too. Looking like its gonna be just as cold as it is here, so no swimming pools dang it.

Ugh - I will never go to Fremont Street again. When we were there in February I cried. The place is nasty, full of very weird people and just NOT the same as it was back when it was the old Fremont street without that stupid laser show overhead. There are too many quite beautiful things to do in Vegas without going into the armpit called Fremont Street. Ick.

Visit Lake Mead, the dam, Mount Charleston used to be a great place - nice ride up, good food at the lodge, beautiful scenery. Some of the new casinos have some terrific attractions as well. You'll never see it all so make sure to hit the highlights!

Celeste, are you kidding me.
The Golden Nugget is a great place to stay Downtown. The new 25million dollar pool is second to none. Fre mont street has a lot of street vendors and such, but its not all the hype like the strip. Would like to try something like Red Rock Resort sometime?????????

Renting a hummer then take it into the State Parks, the Land of Beauro Management off road trails is a freaking blast. Will post more pic's

"Renting a Hummer".......Terminology sure does change over the years. I guess that sounds better than "going down to Fremont street and getting my **** ******* for 10 bucks.:yikes:

Oops.....just saw the pics. I guess you really did "rent a hummer"!
