I recently modified one of my first power washers (was a Ridgid 2.7gpm 3000 psi, with a 6hp subaru), into a backup house washing machine (5.5gpm 1200 psi). It was a fun project, I decided I wanted the same small footprint but going with belt drive that meant I had to orient the machine above the pump, so I flipped the frame upside down and put the engine on top, see pic. Anyway, I tested it out with some old unloader I had laying around and it seemed to work ok if I dialed it back all the way, but it got me thinking if there was a better unloader out there for these specs (5.5 gpm, 1200psi). Anybody know?? I'm afraid the pressure spike necessary to send the unloader into bypass is bogging the machine down. Also does anyone have an easy way to home make a belt guard (without welding capabilities).
