Last year, my first cedar shingle roof. I ignored everybody's advice that it will be slippery up there. Sprayed my chem up there took one step and WOOSH. Slipped down it like a slip and slide.:eek: Clawing at anything i can grab the whole way down. I caught so much speed that at the end of the roof line I didnt just drop, I flew like ten feet like a skiing ramp that you see in the olympics.:eek: Scariest feeling of my life. I now tie up everytime. Ive fallen a few more times since but the line caught me. Still damn scary feelin.:(

Hey, how about putting your foot right THROUGH a roof ?
You haven't "lived" until that happens, and of course it is YOUR "fault", since the roof was "fine until you stepped on it".
THIS has happened to me 3 times in 16 years cleaning roofs.
2 out of 3 times, we payed for the repair,
One time, the lady said "The roof must have been bad, do you know a good roofer".
She refused to take ANY money from us, but I refused to charge her for the roof cleaning.
 
Some Roofs Cleaning Jobs can get a little hairy. Funny thing is, they never seem to look the same from the ground as they do from up on the Roof! :eek: I sure as heck didn't want to slide off this Roof that we Cleaned in Largo FL. That surely would have left a mark!!! OUCH!

The slide will scare you a lot but it is that sudden stop on the ground that will hurt the most, if you wake up.

This business is very dangerous and if you don't take it serious and be careful, you might not make it too long.

I don't want to walk on tile roofs for several reasons but I respect those guys that do, you can learn a lot from them.

I fell through a roof about 8 yrs or so ago. Really messed up my left knee bad for about 4 months, Rotten wood roof. The worst thing is I put on 40 lbs when I was laid up, still carrying it.

Missed

I missed the first step of the ladder and dangled by my knee until the ladder fell over. I was more embarrased than hurt because my then girlfreind now wife was watching me be a show off. Repeated a similar incident when I almost fell of our sailboat 30 years later. Some kids never grow up.:withstupid:
