trucks washed on gravel

EPA Region 6 just emailed me concerning this matter. This is the core of what he said:

Pressure washing automobiles and trucks actually comes under thejurisdiction of your city code enforcement section and state environmental agency. While state regulations are based on federal regulations and guidelines, they may be more stringent than the federal guidelines and there will be some variance between states.

Question: is it ok in your area?

If you are washing on gravel, and the water is not running off property, you are okay according to most city reg's that I have seen. I have never washed on site, on gravel and had water go anywhere but straight down.

I think it depends on chem usage as well. If you use an acid it eats metal that gets into the ground and some states will not allow the use of acid on gravel w/out reclamation.
