As a business owner, I have had quite a few interesting and fun jobs, that gave a great sense of satisfaction when the job was completed. I sold a government job cleaning 200,000 ft of concrete for 9 cents a square foot, and it wasn't a parking garage. I have to admit, that was cool, and happened 15 years ago.
What I want to know is what is the biggest business rush that you have experienced as a business owner? I don't want to know about the big job that made you bucket loads of money. That is something that is kind of expected. I want to know about the unexpected "This is cool" moment.
I have two, which defies my description, I know.
1. The first time I was leading a crew to do a job in the afternoon, after they had completed their normal work assignment. I had 8 of MY trucks following me in a row, on the way to the job. I have to admit, that was a really cool feeling.
2. Just after we had started our big contract, I decided to rearrange the parking in our yard, to see the best way to park. It was dusk, and as I was walking back to the shop, I saw all the trucks parked, clean and ready to go to work the next day. Seeing them, with the Phoenix sky line in the back ground was definitely a cool experience. Since that time, we have nearly doubled the number of trucks, and it is still cool.
So, what was yours?
