I have a Hydrotek surface cleaner. Everytime I adjust the pressure for it the unloader on my pressure waser kicks out. I removed the tips on the surface cleaner and it did the same thing. Everything works fine with the wand but not with the surface cleaner. I looked for debri in the coupler and did not see any. Any suggestions.:(

First suggestion is replace the tips.

Why are you adjusting the pressure for the surface cleaner anyway? is it made for a machine that has more or less pressure then yours does?

I'm not exactly adjusting the pressure. Their is a valve on the top when you turn it all the way it sends the water through the tips. When you turn it the oter way it sends the water through a another hose wich dumps the water underneith the surface cleaner. The problem is when I try to apply pressure to the tips the pressure washer shuts down because its building too much pressure. I removed the tips and applied pressure too it and it did the same thing.

HydroTek has a unique swivel, it has two tips that meet tnside of the swivel. If you take out the set screw on the top it goes streight thru to the bars. You can remove the bars on the bottom of the swivel by removing the brass fitting with the bars attached still. The peice that you remove has an orface that unscrews with a 3/8 wrench. Clean that out and the orface that is inside of the set screw area. A large paper clip will do the job. Then put it back together and fire it up.

I disassembled the whole unit turns out their was a little pebble in the head causing the whole problem. Thanks everyone for your help.

Call Hydro Tek and tell them your not happy and want a refund, then buy a Whisper Wash surface cleaner.

But really if you have tried everything I would give them a call and ask for the service dept. explain to them your problem and ask what causes it and how to fix it.

IF they cannot help you and it was me I would sell it and buy a different brand, that is me and you won't agree with me there.

Hold on Jon!!! Careful of that. I have never been happier than I am with my Hydro Twister. Wouldn't trade it for the world. I have been running the same spinner since 1995. All I have ever had to do is replace tips and berrings. Not to shabby. Believe me you do not have to take that advice:p

Seriously though, you should complain up a storm if you are having that many problems. E-mail me and I can tell you exactly who to talk to if they won't help you out. They all know me in Redlands. I learned really fast who to deal with if I had any problems and didn't get them fixed fast.

My forgivness your Holy Princess:)

Please note that I did say buy another brand but NOT what brand.

Ok I can say Kendra deals with them and might be able to open a door for you, also notice she did not make a promise but I would place my bet with her that you get results.

Hydrotek is the best! Forget the rest!

I am sorry I have never tried a hydrotek. I own a Landa jet wash and love it. I like that my jet wash has a gun on the side for gum and around corners. I like that feature of my jet wash. I don't see that on Hydrotek. Time is money I think my jet wash with gun on side save more time then a sureface cleaner without one. Just my 2 cents:D

I modifyed a HydroTek recently with an extra gun on it and, you are right people do love that feature. It was easy to add on. Just add a Tee to the guns input and add a short hose and an extra gun and wand to it ,plus a peice of pvc pipe as a holder held on with hose clamps and cap the end with a hole drilled in it for the water to escape.

Question to all you guys that use that short hose and gun for gum, don't you find you still have to go back and do a final rinse once that is done?

I have given thought to adding that but figure why when I still have to do my final rinse, I pop off the gum as I do my rinse and am done with it.

By doing it that way I don't have to stop every so often with the surface cleaner and pop gum off, I can keep on and do the whole job, half or a quarter of it then pop gum and rinse.

How do you guys do your rinse or do you even rinse off?

Jon,
This is what I do. I go over everything and do stop to remove gum as I go.But for the rinse , once i get to the end of what ever I am cleaning. I just turn turn around and walk with the wand in my hand rinsing the concrete clean. I never stop the machine and never have to go back to the PW for any reson at all. Thus saving you time. Thats my point of view. :D

Personally I agree with Jon I wash everything with surface cleaner and remove gum and touch ups while in the rinse process this I to believe is quicker rather than stopping several times intemintedly instead of while already using the gun in the final step. Just My Opinion!
