hello all , i was upstate ny today and made a stop by the pilot to get some gas and i took a walk by the blue beacon truck wash . there was about 9 trucks in line to get washed . i was actually impressed with the work they put out.. i know many have names for it like the streakin beacon and so on but i watched 2 trucks get washed from start to finish and they looked pretty darn good.... i was also snoopin on the equipment ...i noticed that they tee off their guns and and use a ball valve to turn on and off chemical induction.. when they were applying chemical (at high pressure) i heard their air pumps kicking on and off .... it didnt look like a dema high pressure down stream injector but i know the chemical was getting fed in the line by a flowjet at some psi ...... they had 3- 4 guns set up on the wall that was just dedicated for 1 chemical ...it looked like they were 2 stepping ... i had to say the place was clean and well run .. i was surprized to see how these employees were working....dont get me wrong im not trying to put them on a high horse but was shocked to see the outcome.. ps anyone have any ideas on what components they use at their guns.. at first i thought they tee'd the line off and put a check valve in place with a ball valve to inject the chemical through at some psi...

I got to see one in action last year in Louisiana and was not impressed with the quality of work, cleanliness of the facility and when I talked to the drivers that were having their trucks washed they told me that you get what you pay for and they wish there was a better place out there that did a great job and that they would pay more for a better job.

The problem is that most of them wont pay more thats why blue beacon has so much of the market.

yes its hard especially in a huge operation like theirs to run the same from one location 2 another... my friend owns the only truck wash in brooklyn and he gives high quality ... they are an old school operation and basically brush everything...... he has a long catwalk that they wash the tops of the trailers as well.... hes got an oil change onsite as well as detailing to go with it .. not 2 mention a food stand as well......

That sounds like a great place for truck drivers to go to, get a lot done at one place.

I had the oil changed in my Big Bucket Truck and it took 2hours 45 minutes when they told me it would only be around 2 hours. They did have a nice lounge with cable tv and really nice chairs like the more expensive ones you see in trucks.

Other than it taking a very long time, it was not bad or priced too much.

I had them change the oil (30 quarts), oil filter and 2 fuel filters.

wow 2 hours for an oil change thats nuts!! .. my friends does then in 20 mins if its a basic oil change ..
