Hey everybody, this is my first post on here! I have a house that i will be softwashing and it has fabric awnings over the windows. Now im pretty sure that you cannot apply a SH mix on it or it will bleach it right? Have any of you ran into this before and could you give me some insight? I figured i would have to use a ladder to carefully wash above it with just a simple cherry mix maybe?

Find out the brand/manufacturer of the awnings... Call them or find out on their website about warranty and cleaning guidelines. The time taken to do this, is time well spent against running the risk of damage and/or replacement cost.

Typically, you are fine with a house wash type mix... Pre-wet the fabric with water, rinse, rinse, rinse. It can be avoid idea to at the very least, spray a fabric softener on the material after completion.

However, make sure you do the leg work on finding out the manufacturer's specs and a small test in an inconspicuous area.

Isn't simple Cherry Caustic?

We wash them all the time with a regular house wash mix. Just rinse real well. Especially around the areas where the stitching is. Some use nylon and others use cheap stitching which can dry out from the mix.

i appreciate the inquiry ron and i'll call up Bob at pressuretek and see what he says. steve, larry and doug, I checked the awnings for a manufacturer and it doesnt have a stamp anywhere and also the homeowner doesnt know what type they are. I'll test a spot and see how it is while constantly flushing it with water which seems like the best bet. Thanks !
