Restored building....now I have a problem.......

eachchem

there claim to fame is their BUFFERS.
The buffers make them safer to use. Both for people and surfaces that are normally damaged by the stuff that dose the work.
On that 56,000 sq ft building, if you took out the time it took to cover the windows, time to uncover, time to fix the glass, time it took to make sure windy days did'nt do more damage, and poss. of time covering whatever else the chem they used took. Then maybe this co. products are not as high priced as i think.
nmd-80 is about $7 per gal in 55 gal drums/plus shipping. $6.50 if you buy 220 gal at a time.
Delution depends on what your cleaning.
There truck washes are around $11 per gal[55 gal]
$75 for a 5 gal test plus shipping is what holds me back from even trying their truck wash.

Very good points Ron.

Lets face it, the most common components in cleaning chemicals are at either end of the PH scale (caustic or acid):
- Sodium Hydroxide
- Potassium Hydroxide
- Hydrochloric acid
- Hydrofluoric acid
- Sodium Hypochlorite

Each year there are 10 million tons of Sodium Hydroxide manufactured in various forms for use in industry.

Most of these chemical components will not have the best cleaning action by themselves (diluted). What makes one solution work better than another is a combination of other additives such as detergents, wetting agents, emulsifiers and other surfactants.

Just as an example of how complex the chemical industry is: There are over 2900 various surfactants currently available for industrial use.

It's kind of like potato soup - the main ingredient is potato (and water) however just those two components will not make a very good tasting potato soup. It's all the other ingredients that will make you like the flavor of the special soup.

Paul,
I was just looking through my paper work of when I bid this job....When I was doing test areas I did have a rep come out that tried saber store and gs restore....I was real impressed with the saftey of especially the saberstore....I only had one problem....IT DIDN"T CLEAN ANYTHING.....The GS restore did but it's basically the same thing as 101 I thought. I am sure the saberstore is good in certain apps. BUt between the rep being a real prick and it really not working I decided on diedrich's. Mabye I'll try the other sometime.

Jared,

Makes safety hard to by when the product doesn't clean.

Have you compared Prosoco (equiv.) to Diedrich in action?

Is your Diedrich dealer flexible on product pricing?
and Do they carry product in 1 gal / 5 gal / 55 gal. sizes?

My Diedrich dealer is immovable on the product price but I've been able to negotiate some real nice deals on Prosoco products with another supplier. Cost difference is close to 50% per gallon.

Regards,

As far as product packaging goes, I am kinda scared to stock any type of restoration cleaners. I have heard that the longer they sit the less effective they are. Obviously if you can purchase materials in bulk you get a better price. But, am I correct that it is not good to actually "stock" this material if you are not going to use it up withiin a short period of time?

They claim a 2 year shelf life on some products (unopened) and will replace if defective (not much of a consolation if you can't clean).

My deal with the supplier is that I give them a bunch of money up front, giving me a greater discount and I draw product until my account is exhausted. I have an imaginary stack of products that are continually rotated. The handshake is that if they fail to rotate, they lose my account. During the winter I do have them actually shelf 3 months worth of products to reduce/eliminate the risk of running across products that may have been exposed to freezing weather during shipment. We keep about 2 weeks supply of the freeze sensitive cleaners on hand. They're dressed in warm coats, hats, gloves and nose mittens. So far so good - knock on formica.

P.S.
One of the Diedrich supplier in my area refuses to carry or order their products during coldest weather - did he get burned? He won't say.
