Quickbooks software...

Who here is using quickbooks?

If so, what are the main features you use and do you thinks its well worth the price?

I am contemplating using it for a few reasons, mainly keeping records of customers and jobs done, expenses, the ability to create custom invoices and I believe you can even charge a credit card directly to your bank account (correct me if I'm wrong)..Which would be great for those few customers who would like to make a credit card payment..

Any advice is much appreciated..

I use QB but I pay someone to enter the data monthly. Tried doing it myself and it is not as easy as it looks. That was one part of my business I thought it was better to let someone else handle.

I am trying to get my wife to learn QB so she can take it over. There are some good features that make it worthwhile. You can do all your invoices, write checks, graph expenses, print periodic statements, etc.

I would probably die without it :) We also use Customer Manager in conjunction and things are so much more organized & accessible now!

Only thing about QB that gripes me is them extorting money from the user for payroll interface. Before installing the last update they sent, I could print out my 941 quarterlies even though I have to manually do payroll deductions. Now I can't even do that without paying extra. Seems to me, when you pay over $100.00 for the new version, they oughta cut you some slack.

I first started using QuickBooks when there was only a DOS version! ;)

I cannot comment about any other accounting software since I've never used anything else. With all that said I feel like Russ, the cost of the software has gone up to much!

I do all of the work with QB. Payroll, invoicing, paying vendors, including all quarterly and annual reports, etc. I can pull up info about customers, vendors, employees going back to 1995 and get the information in a heartbeat! If I need to go back further I have to pull up the DOS version. I'm currently using the Pro 2007 version.

QB for the PC only - the Mac program is not very good, according to our Apple fans. QB is the only way to go - lots of users, and lots of help.

Holy cow Dave, I was teasing the office girls yesterday. I reflected about using D base and lotus, it came about when i wrote a formula in excel and one of the gals commented she was impressed. I chuckled remembering when it was not so easy. LOL

Not sure if I need quickbooks pro $199 or the quickbooks simple start $99...

Anyone using quickbooks merchant services to take credit card payments?

HiPSI - Simple start is if you bill less than 20 customers. For example if you billed each residential customer under thier name I am sure you would have more than 20. But you could just use the name "residential customer" each time instead. I would go for the Pro version. You can get it at Costco for $147 - then they have a coupon for $50 off.

Yea bestbuy just had it on sale for $150 and almost picked it up I will check out my local costco, thank you

Picked it up on sale at best buy for $150 costco was the same price, now lets see how much of a pita is is to use :p

If I were you I would have one of their consultants set it up for you, to get it going the right directions. If you call them they have local people that will help you set it up-well worth the money.

Picked up QB Pro at CompUSA. (Wife works there - got a good discount or I never would have gone there). Haven't had time to set it up yet, but plan to this week or next.
