I'm washing a house on Tuesday and the owner has a lot of lime stone on top of brick that needs to be cleanedIt's not real dirty but has some black swirls that I would like to clean up real nice for the guyI know limestone is super soft so what do you folks recommend? can I get away with not using onerestore or prosoco'sLime restorer to clean or should I use one of the above mentioned.?Also he has black streaks under the windows that are running down the vinyl sidingF13 diluted and rubbed on with a hand brush? If so how would you dilute it in a spray bottle? Thanks for all your help

No Doug I didn't take any pics the limestone looks like the ones they use for steps up to the house, they really aren't that dirty just have some black swirls I would like to clean them and brighten up
. To be honest the guys house is pretty clean there really
Is not much to do but he wants it cleaned so the little that
I have to do i would like to make a difference
Can I do this with a house wash and hot water with low pressure?

Yes, house wash, low pressure. I would use an adjustable wand. Not sure that hot water would would be needed.

Ok and the black streaks that run down the sides of the window on the vinyl siding I can use f13 and a scrub brush or is there something better to use?

Not sure about that without seeing it. I would be very leery of using to strong a chem on vinyl if you havent tried it before. I have removed stains that sound familiar to that with the little white mr clean eraser pads.

Prosoco has a masonry cleaning detergent that is not as expensive nor as difficult to use as their restoration product. they told me it was the way to go if you are maintaining limestone that doesn't need the full restoration. i can't think of the name of it off the top of my head tho.

Charlie try your gutter cleaner with the brush and see if that takes the black run off lines out on the vinyl. I know in the past I got that out with my gutter cleaning chemical at a pretty strong strength.

I would start with your standard house wash mix it should clean up the stone very well. I would try brushing that on the streaks first it may take it off with no problems, if not then work your way up to the stronger mixes.

I have tried my f13 once and it worked ok
That is my plan this time as well, also doug mentioned
Mr cleans magic eraser so I bought some and I'm going to try that as well

Thank you

Just be careful with that gutter cleaner stuff....to strong and it can take the color out and you'll have a faded looking spot.

yup use this only if the other stuff fails and do it on a small spot to see how it works. We had some of those black lines come down and straight chlorine with a surfacant didnt put a dent on it..

Good luck Charlie and let us know how it works out for ya.

Thanks guys,

Doug I used the Mr Clean Magic Eraser on the black run off spots under the window
And it was amazing how fast they came off and how white it left the vinyl siding.
I wish we could use that stuff on the whole house.

Also I used a house wash on the limestone and brushed it on with a strong bristle brush
They were extremely tuff to get clean so I turned on the heat and used a tip that fanned out
And I had to get up close and personal with the stone but it came out great.

Before you wet the limestone hit it with roof grade solution and let it sit for 20 minutes. then hit it with heat. I did 1500 sqft today and it was nasty. May have to hit it a second time if brutal. Do not go to strong with pressure you can make marks in limestone. Stick with white tips.
