Portable Diesel Hot Cold Machine

If you were to invest in a portable 3000-4000 p.s.i. portable hot /cold diesel 12V pressure washer $4000 (start up budget) or less what brand/model would you purchase and why?

P.S. I will be pursuing the Burger Kings, Taco Bell type accounts at first for flat surface cleanings and exterior walls, dumpster areas. I have several ready for me to get started!

Thanks in advance...

No disrespect intended, I just find posts of this nature very comical. In my mind I'm thinking what other option do you have? There's always securing it to the cement slab in your shop and running miles of hose....:yes4:

Hi Lou,

Just looking for recommended quality brands...simple as that? I'm a rookie who just returned my 1st 3800psi 4 gpm Home Depot model which broke down after 2 jobs.

Here is the main point of the question: "...what brand/model would you purchase and why?"

Thanks in advance.

The brand matters much less than the qaulity of service after the sale.

Most certainly. In that case Home Depot has been fantastic! But do I want to keep returning machines that are really geared toward the homeowner market and not durable enough for regular commercial use? I don't think so. I guess I'll just look around more.

What brands/dealers do you have in your area? I build my own now but alkota, hydroteck, mitm are all good brands. Most use the same parts. I like the general or udor pumps myself. Belt drive is the most reliable. Honda motors have been great to me.

Thank you bears! You have me researching in those areas.

Mike

Mi-T-M 3504 series are nice and compact, well built and other than ignitors they are without flaw.
If you have the ability to get a SV series of hydrotek in your area go for it. They are some of the best built pressure washers I have ever seen and around here the company that sells them gaurantees them unconditionally ( with-in reason) for 3 years and if they can't get it up and running in 24 hrs they will loan you a spare like machine for free till they can get it going.

I love my delco/rahsco/deluxe machines. I love the ones running kohlers even better. You have to special order them, though. Being in Washington, a Landa might be upnyour alley.

When you mention portable then those are usually less than 4gpm so you will be really restricting your potential for commercial cleaning.

The vendors that post on these bbs's are usually good brands, I would not buy anything from the box stores if you are looking for commercial quality.

If you want professional equipment then it cost, as simple as that. You can get a used rig that will probably be a lot better than what you find in most box stores and you will get hot water which the box stores do not carry. You will want hot water if you are serious about doing commercial work as it involves removing gum and oil/grease.

Nobody is really trying to give you a hard time, it is just that good equipment cost many times more than what the box stores sell for so a lot of times the same questions get asked over and over and over and over and over and over and over and the answers are usually the same.......save up more money to get a good rig or look for a good used rig, you can usually find them on ebay, craigslist and vendors that post here.

Thank you...good advice.

Buy Landa or Hotsy. you wont be dissapointed. They are good but they cost more too. I would not go less than 5gpm for the work you mentioned. If you do youll be there alot longer. Also dont go biger than a 20"SC. good luck

Thanks El Flojo,

I have an 18" SC now. I will make the sure the g.p.m. is up there.

I might step up and go a little bigger the more I research it looks like a trailer mount unit might be needed. Any thoughts on a 18 hp kohler engine?

Nothing wrong with kohler engines, I have had good luck with them. Honda makes great engines too. You wont go wrong with either in my opinion.

You haven't asked WHY that Home Depot PW lasted only two days !!?

You can learn a LOT in the equipment service area on this site.

But definitely find out about overheating water-seals,
and what a "high-volume bypass-system" does
for the reliability of a garden-hose-fed pump system,
BEFORE you buy any system.

Click on the links above to see with your eyes.

Interesting! Thanks Jerry. I know I pulled the trigger often and never let it go without being pulled within every 20 sec. as the longest delay time.

PS I'm looking CLOSELY at the site and the machines.
