Plate compactor for Pavers

I have to put polymeric sand in a Paver job that I cleaned last week. According to the directions after sweeping the sand in the cracks you need to use a plate compactor to help vibrate the sand deep into the joints.I went to home depot to check out the rentals and none of them have a padding on the bottom like the companySuggests. I'm afraid the vibration will crack or scratch the Pavers without this pad. Can someone with experienceGuide me here please....ThanksCharles Muli

To resand i just do everthing the directions say minus the compactor and have had no problems.

I think I will forego the compactor
I hate to skip directions but id rather be safe

Please forgo the compactor!! This is only for new paver jobs. You will scratch and discolor the pavers. Just brush in the sand(on the dry pavers) blow down with a blower and activate corectly.
