Past transportation just for fun

A funny story that goes with my first ride... I was grounded (for some reason - can't remember) 2 weeks before I got the car. My girlfriend at the time dumped me and started dating a friend of mine. When she found about the car she was all up in my cookies wanting to get back together. I, as politely as I could, told her to take a long walk off a short pier. LOL.

Man that's as long as some people's shopping lists, lol

Good thing you had the 302.

The 70's "muscle" cars (including the impotent corvettes of those years) are a perfect example of what happens when the government controls production!

In my opinion, the '70 models were the best (not including other models in the later '70's, just the '70 models).

My father had a '70 C-10 pickup (3 on the tree) - pulled like dozer
My brother's girlfriend had a '70 Monte Carlo - scarey fast
My mom had a '70 Cutlass w/ a 350 Rocket - make you sh!t yourself fast
My third car was a '70 Nova (2 door) - not fast, but I love the style.

When I was 13 I told myself I would own 3 different vehicles... a Nova, a pickup and a Corvette. Still have the pickup ('83) and still looking forward to the Corvette.

Let me see,
First car was a pickup. A 64 Ford F-100, that had a 390 and a four speed. It had been my dads, but needed a valve job, and had sat for 3 or 4 years. I asked him if I could have it if I fixed it, and after permission was given, I started tearing the engine apart within about 5 minutes, literally. I had that thing running like a top, and used to abuse the crap out of it. My big mistake was letting my brother drive it. He blew the engine in it, showing off. He is about 8 years older then me.
Then I had an 80 Toyota Corolla fastback.
84 Toyota 4x4, my first new car
86 Honda CIvic SI, the first year for the SI's.
Other then that, it has been a variety of pickups, and cars of no particular interest, not that I have driven anything terribly interesting, ever.
Right now, I have two vehicles that are mine, as in, no one but me drives them. An 09 Flex, and Scarlet, my 06 Superduty. Maybe some day I will get my CTS-V.

Larry, if you had one of these I'm going to demand a DNA test. We are brothers.

My senior year I got in trouble and my parents took my Grand Prix away for a while. I went out and financed this beast. $170 a month for a year. :(

The seats laid all the way down on this thing. This car was instrumental in my getting married at 19.

Its official Tony.....You ARE NOT my brother. Haha! Never had one of those. What is it? A Datsun? Girlfriends parents had one. Is that close enough? Lol

Early 70's cars were great! Jimmy Carter ushered in the abominations America put out in the late 70's.

I had a teacher at school run into my B210 with a 1971 New Yorker and crumpled it like a tin can. Instead of reporting it to his insurance he gave me this speed demon 1981 Dodge Omni:

omni.jpg

I only had it for a month and ran off a curvy road and it got stuck about 10 ft off the ground in some thick trees.

Once I got in the Navy I bought this 1981 Yamaha XS850 from the base motorcycle safety instructor to get around for $1100 bucks. 3 cylinder, kindof slow, and no fun in the rain:

I'm afraid to put up my next car because I'm certain Larry had it.

Datsun B210. It was that orange color and I put red and yellow stripes on it to look like the "bumblebee" version.

Yeah. I went through a dork phase.

1985 Pontiac Fiero. Larry?

This was my first new car deal. They saw me coming a mile away. Paid $13500 in a small car dealership in Tennessee. I immediately drove it to San Francisco where the same car was selling for $8888. Not only was I in a dork phase, I was in the idiot phase.

I wrecked it the first week I had it on the first exit off the Bay Bridge and had to drive a rental car for 2 months while they ordered the parts to fix it. It was never the same again.

Later a drunk doctor hit us head on at a stop light and almost totaled it.

Top speed? A whopping 105. Plastic body. One time my dad laid a work light off the fender and it melted a hole in the fender.

I hooked it up though with a black and white TV built into the dash for long trips. It was actually comfortable on long trips. Drove it across country two times. Went through 5 clutches that I had to pay for. Once I sold it I got a letter saying there was a clutch problem and they were recalling them and would fix it for free. Bad luck was all around me with that car. Including meeting Chris' mom while driving it. lol.

85 monte carlo SS - always wanted one of those. Never got the Buick Grand National either.

I'm sure your Suzuki 750 was not one of these. Bought it in 2005 or 2006 for $5k cash, had it for one day, didn't even have time to get insurance on it. Loaned it to a friend to go riding with us and he ran off the road with it and ended up in intensive care for 3 weeks, and took him three months to learn to walk again. Lost all the money on that one with no collision insurance.

No Fiero Tony. Always thought if i drove one of those id'e look kinda.....well you know. ( batting eyelashes )

Had one of these Ford LTD's. Bought it from a girl who worked in the office at a dairy I worked at. Paid $400.00 for it. Eventually hit an ambulance that went through a red light and it got totaled. The city actually cut me a check for $800.00. LOL

I then used that money and bought this beauty you see below off the mechanic who worked at the dairy. lol... Paid $600.00 for it. Ugly as heck but let me tell ya. When the back seats were folded down and I broke out the blanket and pillows it was GAME ON!!! Queen size bed on wheels baby... That car saw a lot of action.
