Parking Garage Cleaning is requiring ...

I would bet that there is no one in the UAMCC that is qualified for this contract. Shelter Cleaning in California requires a contractors license, or a license in a reciprocal state, such as Arizona.

From a licensing standpoint, we do have representation with a C61 & D38 contractors license for this particular job in the Bay Area. My question revolved around the insurance requirement. Jim answered it.

That is not the right license specification. At least, according to the California Registrar of Contractors.

I know Scott probably has the answer for this ,but why would someone need a contractors' license to "clean" a garage or shelter? I understand the need for Scott to have contractors' license because he "installs" them. But why on earth would a contractor's license be needed to "clean" them?

Most states specify that a contractor's license is needed when a person "contructs", "builds", "adds on to" or "alters" a structure. How is cleaning doing any of these things? Why don't you have to have a license to manufacture automobiles to run a car wash? See the point? How about permits to manufacture clothing to have a dry cleaner?

Good point Tony, one word answer for you:.............California.............

You know how those people over there are. hahahahahahahahaha

Because it is a shelter maintenance contract. In one day you could be moving a shelter, doing certifiable welds on a shelter, painting a shelter or cleaning a shelter. You could also repair and replace trash cans and benches. Sometimes, you might even need to post signage and pour pads. There is a ton more to it then just pressure washing.
