Parker West wastewater treatment technology

Hello, my name is Cathleen Parker, President of Parker West International, LLC, based in Santa Rosa, California. In 1996, our company patented the process of using and and all clay based flocculents for treating wastewater generated by any MOBILE pressure washing/steam cleaning activity, whereas the equipment is mounted on a wheeled containier, i.e. truck, trailer, street sweeper. CUA does NOT have permission or a license to use our patented technology.

Has anyone checked into licensing with Parker West?

It is great when you own a patent. Anyone on here has his or her own patent?

I would have to agree after investigating mobile wash water treatment systems; a flocc clay system is fast, easy and works.

If I bought floccant at the PW supply store and used it even in a crude water treatment process on a mobile skid (on wheels), I would be in violation of the patent?:(

Only if you are selling it and making $$$ as your idea.

Swabby is still around. They did a demo for a parking deck here in VA for a PM we are working with. He was not that inpressed. To big of a rig. We got that deck and several more. We had troble getting a 12' trailer in a couple of decks with a short bed Ford. They would never have gotten pass the first turn.

These type of machines seem awesome with the exception of the fact of lack of mobility. If you are doing a big open area, parking garage or parking lot, I can see the benefit. However when it comes to a sidewalk it seems that with all the time that would be spent doing cut ins around poles and the walls and such that the time saved with this equpment would be lost again.

I want to buy one of these, but it seems you can only get the swabby with the "mothership" and can only get this one with license agreements. Why can I just buy one??

Exactly!! to slow for me, there are way to many obstacles on a S/C for this to be efficient.

I am sure it has it's place but it would have to be wide open..

Just received the following information from Parker West:

Thank you for your interest in the Parker West Systems.

We have two standard units available:

A Driving Pressure Washing/Vacuum Recovery Unit (propane or gas driven) with a conventional multi stage mechanical filtration (oil/water separator) and 4 engines to run the vacuum generator and 2 boilers/heater - 4,000 psi up to 12gpm, 200 degrees w/2-21" vacuum surface cleaners and 12' VacuBerm
$75,000.00 + cost of a second trailer to transport driving mechanism

A Driving Unit/Vacuum Recovery System with our patented Clay Floc Treatment System with a vortex heating unit, 2 engines - 4,000 psi up to 12gpm, 240 degrees w/2-21"vacuum surface cleaners and 12'VacumBerm
$115,000.00 + cost of second trailer to transport driving mechanism

The primary differences between the two systems are:

The Clay floc system allows the use of soaps and degreasers. Oil/Water separators will fail if you use soaps or degreasers, causing the contaminants to go into solution

Clay floc is a one step batch treatment system that also removes metals, which keeps all the equipment polished with each use. Oil/Water separators do not remove metals. Trace metals can wreck havoc with your equipment, particularly if you are recycling and reusing the wastewater. With each reuse the concentrations of the metals increase and could reach hazardous levels. Also, if you are trying to meet EPA standards, your local regulators may require that you remove the metals to meet their sewer discharge standards

The Clay Floc System has 3 recovery tanks, which enables you to recycle and reuse the wastewater all day, reducing fresh water consumption by 70%. Also the driver does not have to stop and process the wastewater, which increases productivity by 20%. Oil Water separators requires more time to process and manage the wastewater, because you will be stopping frequently to clean and change out filters

The Clay Floc System has a built in inline filter, which reduces pump out failure

The Clay Floc System utilizes a heat exchange system, rather than two conventional heaters or boilers, reducing fuel costs by 40% (saves approx. $1,000/month) and it reduces C02 emissions by 75%, which is particularly important if you are working inside enclosed parking structures or need to meet OSHA air quality control standards

The Clay Floc wastewater treatment is a one step batch treatment system. The equipment has only one moving part, the mixer motor, very low maintenance

The Clay Floc System uses a vortex heating system, which allows the use of optional carpet/upholstery cleaning attachments increasing the diversity of the services you can offer.

The Clay Floc System renders a non leachable, non hazardous solid waste, significantly reducing disposal costs and liability.

The Driving Mechanism enables you to clean up to 10,000 square feet per hour. Two conventional walk behind vacuum surface cleaners will clean up to 2,000 square feet per hour, each.

Forgot to mention that the systems have a 700cfm vacuum recovery system which allows you to collect the wastewater 16 floors up from the ground floor or 600 ft. from the trailer.

I want to buy one of these, but it seems you can only get the swabby with the "mothership" and can only get this one with license agreements. Why can I just buy one??

You can.
Go buy the one that is advertised on TGS. Look for the thread that says swabbie for sale. Go to VA. and buy it 32k. w/trailer.

I believe Parker west can sell you that particular unit (similar to the swabby) w/o the pressure washers and filtration units for about 20,000. Its propane driven instead of gas driven. We talked with them a few times about this unit, they call it the zipper. It also does not require any of the b/s franchising fees.

I heard a rumor that Clean Up America is bankrupt. If that's true, I think the value on Swabby's just dropped a bit.

That's what I was told today by Cathy Parker. Clean up America recently filed bankruptcy.

The quotes she gave me today were 35% less than I received from Bill Clemons, owner of Clean Up America (Swabby) several months ago.

Anyone, if I built my own hardware to utilize flocculation filtration method on a trailer for my company's pressure washing/steam cleaning needs I would be in violation of the patent?

Flocculation seems so simple,

I believe flocculation is a chemistry term. I'm sure there are patents on different ways of using is but as a generic term I can't imagine it could be patented. I would be like patenting distillation.

Thats what i would think, it is so commonly used in other industries; to lock it up in a patent from mobile pressure washers for 20 years is sad

Bingo. There is no patent for Flocculent since it is a chemestry term. Its how you use it that there could be patent issues. From what I understood Parker west had the patent to clean with the Flocculent and steam and Clean up America had the patent to use Flocculent and Hot water. The end result was that Clean Up America disbanded not because of the Courts but because of the lack of interest in people getting involved with this franchised. Today Bill sells the Whisper wash 36er that is similiar to the swabby except its smaller and doesnt use the belt driven system. Kathy Parker doesnt have a patent on these lawnmower type Powerwashing machines so there in the clear there.

This court case just sucked all kinds of money out of Bill Clemmons and Kathy Parker and that is to bad on both of them. Such wasted money.....

I agree John, that flocculation is a chemistry term, and that there are different methods of achieving flocculation.

I however did not read the entire patent but from what I understand "using a powdered flocculant on a wheeled/mobile unit (trailer or otherwise) in conjunction with pressure washing/cleaning or steam cleaning with or without a vacuum system or with or with out a drivable surface cleaner" you are in violation of their process, .......not "flocculation violation" per say the process/combinations is the patent.

Am I incorrect?
