Painting Box truck walls

I want the walls and ceiling to be painted white.

What kind of paint should be used for this application? I'm thinking something rubberized perhaps? I'd like it to be water resistant and durable.

Currently, the back of the truck has a wooden floor and partially painted walls. The entire back of the truck smells of mold, mostly because of the floor getting wet and staying wet.

Thats why I'd like to coat everything..........so it dries and won't smell like that over time.

You could also go to a Marine Supply store and get Real Honest to goodness Marine paint and paint everything.

For the ultimate coating..check into one of those places that do the spray on truck liners....they can do the walls and floor of a box truck too....I've even seen it on the ceilings of chemical plants

AndyD, is definetly correct. The spray on truck liners also can be done in white. I have seen this done and it works well. Rather costly but you will never have to worry about it.

Hello Mike,

I suggest going to a truck shop that does work on floors and walls. Have them inspect what you have. They may suggest replacing some of the floor! As we all know if wood stays wet, it is only a mater of time until it is gone!

We struggled with the floor in our truck for years and tried to cover it up. Finally we ripped all of it out and started over. The floor was almost completely rotted out under our water tank. Most of the cross members of the box were in real bad shape.

We replaced all cross members, floor and walls. We put a stain on the floor and walls before we installed our equipment. Here is a picture of it just after the repairs.

I used deck paint in my utilty trailer. we started w/3 coats and used the last bit on the floor.
In my new Sprinter, I am going to have the spray on bed liner. The rhino-like coatings are available in colors, go for a light color.

We did the same as Doug. We used a solid stain (Mahogany) since we had about 2 1/2 gallons left over from a job. Worked very well and looked good. The walls we stained in Honey. If I had the extra bucks to do it though, I would go with the vinyl spray. It will last longer and looks good also.

Hello Mike
