I'm too excited to NOT tell someone. I just placed my order for a new Fat Boy 5/8" set up from Bob. :dance:My girlfriend couldn't care less when I told her so I had to tell someone who knows what I'm talking about. Got it with the "pump in a box" option. An extra $99 but it comes with two waterproof boxes, all the wiring, cooling fan, pressure switch, and on/off switch. AND all the wiring done for you. I'm short on time till the beginning of the season so I figured I'd just let them wire it all for me. I'm sick of this snow and ready to get to work!!!:banghead:

man if you've been using the delevan 5800 (or anything similar), you are going to LOVE th fatboy. There hasnt been a roof we couldnt tackle with it yet. And we do biiiiggg roofs. We are doing a house tomorrow thats over 11,000sqft of roof space (over 18,000 house sqft) and it wont even break a sweat. Weve done commercial buildings, condo complexes, etc and it still kicks ass.

Congrats!

Great :thumbup2:
Did you get the Kuri Tech 5/8 Hose ?
We like it better then AG Hose.
AG Hose is tough stuff for sure, but our employees find it stiff, especially when new.
It does last though.
Hose is kind of like a Tire.
All things being equal, the harder rubber compound tires last longer.
But they ride rough.
The 5/8 Kuri Tech is pretty soft, easy to use.
It is lasting about a year on our roof cleaning trucks.
Looks Purty too on a shiny new Titan Hose Reel :thumbup2:
Hope the weather breaks for you soon, and you get some roof cleaning work.

Personally I dont like the box setup, I have never used one and had very little trouble with any of the Delavans, I currently have been running a fatboy for going on well over a year in the open air on the trailer. I think even with a fan the box makes it get too hot but I am in a little bit different climate than you as well.

Good luck with it, you will enjoy the Fatboy its a great pump. Keep it rinsed out after every use and it will last, also using 2 deep cycle marine batteries is a must, you dont want to starve it of power that will burn t up quickly.

I'll second the 2 battery set up. I have my FatBoy in a battery box and I ended up drilling 1.5" holes in the sides after it was getting super hot.

Also make sure you don't try to spray a smaller pattern with the gun partially open. It will smoke fuses. It's all or none.

tell me how it goes ill be getting a fatboy in march i cant waitttttttt!!!!!! hey Russ when you say 2 deep cycle batteries do you mean to have it hooked up to them both at the same time? sorry if a crazy question just want to make sure i hook it up right.

When he said he was excited about getting a FatBoy I was thinking HD!! I'm still thrilled for ya!! lol

:banghead:We have about 10 roofs to do when the snow and temp warms up

Hey, thanks for all the replies guys. I hadn't been able to get online since I posted and I was surprised to see that there were so many replies. The setup shipped and should be here Thursday! And thanks for the info about the dual battery set up. Do you think it would be ok to hook it to the battery for my skid unit? They will not be used at the same time so it shouldn't hurt it right?

Oh, and Chris, I didn't get the Kuri Tec hose, just the regular Kuriyama (I think I spelled that wrong) polybraided hose. From what I have been reading though, I may need to upgrade later!

The weather is supposed to start clearing up next week so hopefully i'll be able to hit it hard soon and put it all to work. Between this, and my new website, I can't wait till the beginning of the season!

no, it needs a seperate battery preferably a minimum od 650 cca to 750 cca's and it has to be a deep cycle battery marine battery or it wont provide enough current. A fatboy draws somewhere in the vacinity of 25 to 27 amps, you will burn up the pump if you run it off a regular battery, and you DO need a dual battery setup OR YOU WILL STARVE THE PUMP FOR POWER AND IT WILL BURN IT UP Also you will need a way to recharge the batteries when you get home from each use, preferably a digital charger.

If you dont do these things you will be sorry

I use goodyear pliovic hose, its very durable and rugged plus its lite, the poly braided hose will get hard and its not pliable and wont last long at all.

Here is a link to a place that carries the Pliovic, Bob ordered it for us but he does not carry it anymore.

We actually hooked up a 7 pronge harness and wired our batterys into the harness so when the trailer is hooked up to the truck it charges the batterys. We have had it this way for about a year, and everything works great. Same pump, same battery.

I do recommend the dual battery setup though.

Russ, I think we are on different pages. I meant that my PW battery would be the SECOND battery. I do see what you are saying though and will go with two new deep cycle marines just to be safe. I would hate to ruin my new pump. Thanks for the tips on the hose as well but due to money, I'll probably wait to switch to that hose once this hose gets too stiff.

Scott, thanks for the tip on wiring it into the trailer harness. I use a 7 flat RV style plug. There is a slot for a constant power. Is that the one you use to charge the batts or is it something else?
