ONE more Question. (couplers & plugs)

Just wanted to get your opinions on which is the best way to set up your high pressure hoses? With the quick connect COUPLERS on the wand and the PLUGS on the end of the hoses, or vice versa?

I like the Quick connects on the hoses and the Plugs on the wands, Surface cleaners etc. mainly because when I wind up my hoses the quick couplers get dragged on the ground but they don't damage as fast whereas if the male end(Plug) was on the end of the hose they would get scraped and ruined where there would be no seal when connected to the quick connects....Or maybe I'm just being a male chauvinistic pig:D

i have posted

in the past that water should go from plug to socket[learned that from e-spec] I have a number of people e-mail and post a reduction in o ring use. I also[unlike clean county] would rather drag a $1.50 part that wont catch dirt[plug] then a $3.50 part that has a o ring, spring, ball bearings,ect... threw the dirt.[socket]
Also by wearing the plug you change them more often, thats a good thing, worn ones eat o rings.
If you have a hot water rig i suggest high temp. stainless steel fittings with VITON o rings for the longest life of your fittings and less down time changing o rings.
Replace the plugs once a month with new ones on the stuff that gets taken apart every day.
Also use a wip hose on both ends of the pressure line. Yes, on the reel and at the wand end. Then have at least one spare.
maybe i can change clean county's mind on this, he wont be the first.
They are designed for the male to enter the female.

I have heard about this whip hose theory, but no one has actually explained why it helps. Could you elaborate a little bit more?

I like the design,lol.

What beats me is why would anybody want to drag their socket though the dirt when reeling the hose in,I have my socket on the end of my hose and I never drag it though the dirt.I always bring the end (socket) back to the rig, undo the wand and lay the socket my the hose reel to keep it out of the dirt.I had rather buy several 1.50 parts as to buy several 3.50 parts to keep my cost down, the socket I have on the end has been there for a few years and I change o-rings maybe once every month or two,I do alot of changing wands when doing farm eqt.,I also do alot of twisting and turning of the wand, never have 0-ring problems,if my rigs is running so is my hotwater, cann't wash without it or I don't like to and usually want. What will get alot of o-rings is a pop-out which means you still have alittle psi in the hose when undoing the wand,I run a open gun so I do not have that problem.

I should have added at the end of my hose is a ball valve which I always walk back to my truck so the quick connect is never dragged. I guess I got lazy on my answer.

The other reason why I have my hose set up with the quick connect at the end is because it seems more convenient to have it this way where other items are connected to it. My air Compressor is set up the same way.

mister alan

the whip hose, The part that gets your pressure hose to fail is at the bottom of your crimp at the fitting[where the bend restrictors are.. So if you have a $10 whip hose that breaks at the fitting you can just replace the $10 part and not the $100 part. You can still repair the $10 part but why?
time and cost is not worth it.
The whip hose also allows you to install a high pressure swivel and high pressure valve so you can change wands without returning to the wash unit or turning it off.
If you use one on the hose reel it's nice and easy to change from maring to non marking hoses or 50 ft to 100 ft.
