I wanted to tell everyone that NEXTEL now offers FREE incoming phone calls.
I think thats pretty darn good.
I would just tell the person i called to call me back.
Their must be more to it then that?
Anyone hear about this yet?

I had free incoming but it was too expensive. You have to remember that with Nextel you have to add 15% to the bill to figure in taxes. Then once you add a couple things here and there your bill gets up to $91 a month like my did. They have offered free incoming for a few years now. I was on it for a year and a half and I switched and got my bill cut back by $40 a month. The only thing I scaraficed for $40 was the free incoming. The free incoming feature is not worth $40 a month. Now I have 500 anytime minutes, free in state calling, 2500 night and weekend minutes, 2500 two way minutes, caller ID, Call waiting, voice mail, Internet, and insurance for $51 a month. What is extra minutes? 15 cents? So for $40 I could go over my 500 by 266. So if your anytime minutes are less then 766 minutes a month it isn't worth the free incoming. Like I said I also added nights and weekends to my free incoming plan that is way I had it so high. I use my two way a lot so I don't use many anytime minutes at all.

Hey Ron,
I've been getting unlimited two-way service and free incoming calls in my area for $69.00 . We have had this service for the last thee years and have saved money.

One thing to remember is when they say a plan is $69.95 it is really $80.44 or real close to that after you add taxes and fees. They aslways add around 15% on top of what the plan is.

I have been told by a Nextel rep. that they don't keep track of direct connect miniutes after you hit 2000. I have the new 10,000
plan for $59.95. Free nights and weekends, caller ID, voice mail, and call waiting

I have had free incoming with Nextel for about 9 months now. Last summer, I evaluated the phone bill, I had used 1547 minutes in may, and out of those, 749 of them were incoming.

Needless to say, I'm saving money with this plan.

I also get free long distance, and unlimited nights and weekends..........costs $109 I think per month, plus taxes as Gunn points out.

i guess it depends on use

to tell you the truth i was thinking about someone like Steve.
He must get 50 calls a day because he work's in the field plus sell's products.
It is said that nextel's patent is running out and that verizon will be offering the walkie talkie type service next.
So nextel has a big push on to get new contract's.
I am wondering if they will compete against each other or if a buy-out is going to happen?

I have been on Nextel for the last 6 years or so, and they had a new plan that just came out last month that I switched to, to compete with all of the other companies, unlimited. It is unlimited calls, incoming/outgoing, and direct connect. $149.99. I average about 3,000 minutes a month, and had been on the free incoming 1,000 plan, and still usually went over. So far so good. No night and weekends plans, or any other junk. It also includes my voice mail, call waiting, caller ID, and 3-way. The only thing that I add is the internet package at $10 more a month. But I can get all of my e-mail, text messages, etc. for that. So, it has worked well for me.

Ron is right. Most of the time I talk it is on Nextel. The only problem I have is when it rolls over from the land line and I am sitting near the computer. It doesn't have good reception then, other than that it saves me money. If they ever get the two way to cross stathe lines I will be happy. That will make it better for everyone to reach me and save on my 800 number also. After I went to the free incoming plan I never had an over run of my plan. The main reason I use Nextel is they are the only one's with the Motorola i700. It is water resistant and that is important in this business. I put almost 20,000 minutes on the first phone and I have 9800 minutes on the one I have now, less than four months old. The phone is the most important tool you have so the service outweigh's the bill for me. One house wash a month pays my bill anyway. When we go out to sell our services to others don't we all stress service more than the price, so why are so many always thinking they have to have the cheapest price on everything anyway. That is why convience stores are in business. Sometimes it is not worth your time to stand in line at some stores just to save a dollar. You could be pressure washing and making more money than you are saving anyway.

Yep Mike, it includes all of my long distance. And I heard a rumor that by this summer (?) the direct connect is going to be nationwide. No more "home areas" areas only. So, I am hoping!
