Hi guys. My name is Jonathan, and I'm looking at possibly funding a business for my brother. I've had a hard time finding a helpful forum on this subject, and I've found out there is a lot to learn about the industry. I just wanted to drop in, say hi, and introduce myself. I like what I see on this site so far. I read the posting guidelines, signature requirements, etc., and did my best to follow them. If I'm making any mistakes, please feel free to let me know.

I don't have a business quite yet, but I'm looking at starting one in NM in the next few months. Thanks in advance for all the advice. Looking forward to learning.

I will use the search feature.......when I find out what to search for. I know absolutely nothing about pressure washing. I don't know anything about chemicals, what pressure to run on different surfaces, techniques, or anything else. I am like a sponge right now, just reading everything I can get my hands on and everything I can on the forum. Thanks for the welcome.

Get to a round table or other type of event so you can meet people, make friends and go and learn on the job to see if it is something that you may/may not like doing.

Best advice you might ever get!
You made a good call checking things out ahead of time. Get to a round table, buy a few beers, and get permission for your brother to follow a crew for a week. That, and be careful funding a business for your brother. That can go real bad real fast! No matter how stupid or over bearing it might seem right now, prepare to hire a lawyer and accountant to create your structure and agreements with your brother before bank rolling this.

Welcome Jonathan:welcome:

This is an awesome BB to learn from, and just chat with new friends.
It's good you're doing it right and doing all the research first.

Besides the hours & hours, days, months of learning here, you can also learn some from watching youtube videos. Just type in what you're interested in, like "pressure washing", "fleetwashing", "roof cleaning", etc.

I would suggest looking at different peoples websites too, there's alot of guys on here that have great websites with alot of info to train the customer. (just don't copy any of their stuff, lol, I've heard of people doing that).

Good luck! Keep us posted.

I would certainly be willing to learn on the job. It's a little harder for my bro right now because he's in school, and there are no pressure washing businesses where he lives. That's why I want to start one and have him run it, see how it goes, and go from there. I know it's dangerous going in with family or friends on a business, but it's worked out pretty well for my family in the past.

Thanks for all the advice, and I will certainly get to a round table and make some acquaintances in the near future.

It just depends on the family, some work great together. My brother in law works with me, and there has been no issues. It's great working with family on our end.
