New Posts not working

Hey Mike or Ron,

Maybe this is something you are already aware of. The New Posts tab dosen't seem to work. It never shows any, even when there are some.

I clicked on the link above marked "New Posts" (between Calendar and Search)........and this is a screen shot of what I got. I had read most of the board already, so there were only 3 new posts for me at the time.

Do you see this screen? Is it blank when it comes up? What's happening?

Okay Mike, I guess it's working. I just thought there was a number displayed next to the new posts tab, representing the number of new posts. Like this: New Posts (10). But it did work once I clicked on it. Sorry, keep up the good work.

That is available on some of the other boards, I would like to see it here. Anybody else? Mike? Ron? Henry?

Grant,

That would be a hack. We can discuss hacks that we are interested in installing......and consider them.

We are not in a position to start hacking the board yet, but we can start a wish list of sorts........perhaps as a new thread in the mod section.

Mike's correct. It is a hack. It's one of the easier ones thankfully.

One thing to keep in mind (speaking from experience here) is to keep in mind when requesting or considering a hack, is that there are many that will slow a site down, due to the number of additional queries to the database. Some do not require any additional queries, some require several. Depends on the hack.

Hope this helps.
Beth :)

Thank you, Beth. I am aware of a hack's ability to slow a site down. We'll evaluate which one's are worth it.

Thanks again.

Mike,
You are very welcome. Please don't misunderstand, the reason I mentioned it to begin with though, as I am sure you are well aware of the effects. I mention this only because the users may not understand that installing hacks can slow things down.

I look forward to the changes you have planned for the site, and wish you a smooth installation.

Have a great day. Stay warm.
Beth :)
