My new rig (Keep Wishing)

Clean County PW said:
I was just talking to a contractor who has a rig set-up that produces 15gpm with his Diesel Powerwasher. He also has a sprayer set-up similiar to what is shown here. He cleans mostly by himself and he stated that with the high GPM's and the high output sprayer he can clean amazingly fast. He just cleaned a large apartment complex in my area for $15,000..in two days by himself!!! If I gross $15,000 in a month from Powerwashing I'm happy and he made that in 2 days.

Was that two days as in a full 48 hours?

Mike this guy claims he did it in two long days which could mean 12-16 hrs. The owner of my local Powerwashing distributer who was standing right there told me that this guy has a monstor set-up that just kills his competition. Do I believe it are you asking?? Probably because of 3 factors...one being my local distributer telling me he has this awesome set-up,Two--He said he did and if you heard him explain it and the detail about how he did it you could say it was plausable. The third being that he had a heavy accent so I asked him where he was from and he said the Ukraine...with that knowledge and seing first hand how some of these foreigners work then once again it could be true. Who knows.

Here's another one for you to twist your head in and wonder if it can be true..This Dream rig here was involved in a....get ready... $38,000,000 Contract (I will get more details on how much of it was for Powerwashing) that involved 80 bldgs and the flat work. The contract was lost when the job was started because of a LOWBALLER!! Another long story.....Oh yea one more.....I purchased this rig today.....................

Mike,

What is it about this you find to be questionable?? I have no idea, I don't clean apartments, so for him to do a complex in two days sounds crazy to me, but I cannot measure that. If you find him making $7500 a day unbelievable, then I'd disagree with you. First off, they were probably monster days. Second, for him to be talking about it means it was probably a unique occurance. When was the last time you bragged to a collegue that you made $150 a day washing houses?? But perhaps you've told someone that you had a good day, and make a couple grand. So let's assume this was not this guy's average day, but that he normally does 4K a day. Still so unbelievable?? I'll say this----I know guys in trades that consistantly make money similar to what is being discussed here. And I'm not talking about big GC's, etc., I'm talking about guys that cut trees with 3 workers and pull money similar to this. I know lawn guys that make a million a year, my friend that does trees probably makes 250 or so, and a friend that has a directional drill probably hits 500K to 1mil. I've learned you can make crazy $$ off of huge, strange pieces of machinery.

JON..You are 100% correct. I have a tree guy that makes on average $2000/day and he doesn't do any of the physical work. My partner on my "other" job started and owns www.jjspools.com and his sales this year will be over $3,000,000 and yup you guessed it he doesn't do any of the work. His 3 secretaries and the other 20 employees do it all.............

John T,

...aren't you a cop?? How do you guys have so much extra time to do stuff at this magnitude?? I'm sure the bennies, etc are good with your job, and is that why a guy that does 3mil a year in pools still work in law enforcement?? I'm just curious how you guys pull this off.

Shift work! I know quite a few contractors who are either cops, firefighters, or EMTs. Not having a regular 8-5 M-F job leaves time during the day to work a side business.

Jon,
I'll let you in on a few secrets. First off I scored like an 850 or maybe even less on The college SAT....Still never the less when it comes to logics I can give anyone a run for the money but for brains for college life...just give me the beer:) I took the police test to get this job when I was in NYPD. I also took the Air traffic Control test and a few others. The Air Traffic control test I scored a 99 and on this police test out of over 50,000 applicants I scored around list number 32. Why because of logics. Example if a wheel is turning one way and it brushes up against the other wheel which way is that wheel turning...duh..the opposite way:) you get the picture. SO today I'm on a job where the community is or at least was in the top 5 as the highest income area in the COUNTRY. Teddy Roosevelts home is here along with a bunch of Rockefellers etc. If I told you I made $142,000 on this job last year and around the same Powerwashing would.....Mike from Fla. Believe it?? If I told you I only work 125 days a year here and I get to relax on this job would you believe it?? Oh yea I'm also the Union President....Now that shocks a few:)

SO I have ample time..but I earned it...and thats for another Day and Mike is right that Civil Servants such as myself and Fireman etc. Do have the time to do something else...So this is my story.............

John T,

So exactly what do you do?? NYPD or what?? Actually, I'd believe it much easier that you made 150K washing than working for the gov. That sounds very high paying to me for a govt job, but I'm sure you've paid your dues in years. Union President?? Sounds like you've got a full plate, though I don't envy that job.

Jon,
I was NYPD. This job hear is all private with its own mayor etc. We get paid from the contract that we negotiate with these people. Its a full blown law enforcement job...but for the whole year my whole dep't had around 3 arrest. Its more like where baby sitters for the very rich. This Job is sweet. When I was NYPD for 2+ yrs that job was fun because I was young and....crazy. Those guys are greatly underpaid for the work they do..on top of that its Dangerous. I had fun there because I was immortal(young and wild).

I'm the Union president for my Dep't which is only 10 guys. Because of the area I've been asked to endorse people sush as the NY supreme court Judge when he was a candidate. My heart and sole though is in the Powerwashing field. I love these guys/gals who put it on the line to do there best in this field.

OK enough about me..I thought you where walking away from this field to finish up your college and go on from there?? Didn't Mike Hughes buy your Box Truck a few yrs back?? So whats your story???????????

John T,

....Yep, Mike bought a van from me a few yrs ago, but I heard he got out of biz. My pwashing retirement lasted about two months, I was going to go to grad school and get my MBA but I found out it was going to take longer than expected, tough to get in (have to take undergrad classes first), and since I didn't have any direction I necessarily wanted to go in, I thought I'd hold off on that decision. So I continued, but decided to make my focus just log home work.

And that is where I am today, I moved to another state a few yrs ago and things have gone very well. Sometimes the thing you are born to do is right in front of your nose, and you just have to accept it. I have some good guys helping me, they are highly experienced and love the work, and that makes it great. Right now, we've been working about 20 days straight, but by Thursday we'll take off for about 10 days, and they like that schedule. I am at a really cool point where my guys are much better at this work than I am, and that is pride-inducing. Seems I am now the one that screws stuff up whenever I try to do something:) Most importantly, it is fun again, and we are starting another operation in another state in May, which is something I've wanted to do for awhile. It may not succeed, but it will be fun trying. Thanks for that update on you, I may be doing a job next year in NY (Pawling?) and if I do I'll be coming down to see the new nasty rig.

jon

Jon,
Sure thing give me a call if you are ever near my area. We'll have some cold beers, Vacation type drinks or just Soda's and we can sit in my Jaccuzzi and talk shop...while the body aches disapear..either from the Jaccuzzi or the drinks:)

As for college I went to a 2yr college...4yrs and I'm still around 6 credits away from getting my associates. College is a great way to go but having direction in life is just as valuable probably even more so and it looks like you have direction. Best of luck.
