Muti use water tank?

Can a water storage tank be used for clean water on some jobs and as a collection tank on other jobs? And yet again the same tank for roof washing? I do mostly house washing and some flat work, I haven’t use a tank up to this point but jobs are coming up that require either collection like at a restaurant back door in the middle of the block or Apartment building that do not have outlets at each building. Past experiences? Thanks.

.. the goal is affordability

Brother Brad,
it's all about filtration here..
As long as the filtration-for-re-use you get can handle the dirt-load you give it,
you can achieve an "acceptable" limit of "bath-tub-ring" in the holding tank.

Filtration (to me), is all modular..
e-mail me, or beter-yet, call me for specifics.
I enjoy a good challenge.
.. the goal is affordability too. Eh?

I tried it when i first started out. and you just have to clean the tank out real good. but it will smell funky for a while, and be dirty on the inside for good. still have the PW and still use the tank 125gal

Short answer is yes. We use 2 tote tanks plumbed separate (and together with the use of valves), and can separate clean rinse water from recaptured water. This works great when you're using your recovery equipment as a "closed loop" system. We do run the recovered water through the OWS and polishing filters before reuse, so it's pretty clean (just grey). The tank will need to be cleaned after use, but there's no reason it can't be done.

Normally, we don't do the closed loop type of recovery, but having the option and ability to do it, has opened some doors that otherwise wouldn't have been possible. Careful planning when setting up your system will allow many possibilities.

Brad,
to sum it all up..
If you're going to clean windows, get separate tanks.
If you're going between sidewalks and parking lots, no big deal. Let's filter !

Also, if your jobs allow "filtered water" to be discharge onto the landscaping,
discharge the nastier stuff, and say you're "re-using for irrigation"..
..especially if you're in a drought zone.
to be clear, if in your area carpet cleaners are allowed to pump baby puke
and dog crap onto the customers' lawn, you sure as heck should be allowed
to dump "road-grime" from a parking lot or loading-dock grease onto the flower-bed.
It's quite biodegradeable, and is NOT a 'bio-hazard" like the puke 'n crap.

Anyway, you have to decide how clean you need the "clean water" to be.

glad to help !
