Min. Sized Buffer Tank

I know this is an old thread, but it is possible to do a 35gal with a Hudson to act as a buffer AND bypass the pump to the same tank ? I do have room issues too, and I don't do a lot of PW to justify a trailer, so everything is inside my van and I load/unload the equipment every time, just don't like to get water inside the van and the exhaust and everything.
