Metal Sided Commercial Building Cleaning

I'm brand new in the business and customer wants m to quote cleaning the front and doors of his 12 bay tire shop facility. It's painted metal siding and aluminum doors I believe. They seem t be in great shape but hearing all the warnings on aluminum siding, I'm not sure if I should bid this or not. I definitely don't want to start off with a big problem right out of the gate.

Any input to this is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Kevin, welcome to PWI - glad to have you here.

Now, use the search feature. I gurantee that you'll find what yor're looking for.

Thanks Ted! I've tried the search feature and fined my own thread. There is metal roof cleaning mentioned, but not sure it's the same. I concerned about removing paint an streaking on metal siding. My customer has a very nice looking building and I don't want something to go wrong.

I've cleaned a few with good success. I use regular housewash mix. Try not to let it dry. Use a wide fan tip with very low pressure to rinse. If not it could cause streaks.

Al, when you say regular housewash mix, do you mean housewash & SH mix? Just want to make sue it's ok to use SH for this application.

Make sure your injector is off line when you use a big rinse tip. It will probably pull chems.

We'll do! Thanks!
I'm still having trouble completely understanding mix. 12% SH is potency you buy it at, then you mix it with your detergent and water, correct? I assume the detergent has a recommended mix ratio with water on the label? Then you add enough SH so that the end mixture is putting 1% of SH (actually heard .48% from another source) on the surface, correct?

I use 2 1/2 gallons water - 2 1/2 gallons sh in a 5 gallon bucket. Add the soap you like. With my injector this should put about 1% on the building. It isn't that crucial. If the building is real dirty you can up the sh and cut the water. Metal isn't porous, so it actually cleans pretty easy. Just let the chems do the work and easy rinse or you'll be brushing like crazy later.

You mean a commercial metal building like this, or aluminum siding like on old 70s houses that looks similar to vinyl siding?

Thanks for everything Al!! Fortunate for me, the customer for the metal buildings is a good friend of mine so I can do some testing in an inconspicuous section of one of his buildings. Any favorites for soap/detergent?

Pat,
Your photos are very similar. I cant figure out how to post a pic. I've tried the attachment link and select the photo then click upload but nothing happens. Too large maybe?

Al, Pat,
Wondered if either of you would be willing to give me some input on pricing for this metal building job I want to bid? I'm new to this and just trying to get a feel for it. I can't seem to figure out how to upload photos, but could email them.

Thanks!!
