MADD Hoax

I recieved an "invoice" from MADD aka Mothers Against Drunk Driving for 37.00 in a bill form which looked about like an electric bill. Said it was requesting the 37.00 contrabution pledge I made "several months ago" and was almost worded like a collections letter. Pretty stearnly worded. It was sent to my buisness name with attn to my wifes name. It is clearly a scam that MADD is resorted too to raise funds. Theres no telling how many little old ladies get this stuff and just pay it or goe's across some desk and the secratary just pays it. The scary thing is the only thing my wifes name is tied to the buisness name is I ordered some stuff last year from a couple of the well known here vendors using her debit card. I just can't believe MADD would resort to flat out fraud tactics. I'm going to take it back up to the Post Master and file a complaint but has anyone else got this?

I haven't seen any from MADD. There is a local yellow pages book here that does that. Says your ad will be pulled if you don't pay...problem is...you don't have an ad with them in the first place!

It could be a scammer using MADD as a front, knowing people sympathize with them and are more likely to donate to them.

If there was a published ad, How would they "pull it"? go door to door and ask for page 693 to be torn out?

Scams are popping out all over now. theres even one that looks like an irs website that tells you to call asap before you get finned. then they ask you ?'s about your bizz. and want you info. dont give it to'em they almost got my wife with that 1

Not sure...just what the paper says. How could they is what we thought when we first saw it. Sad part is...You know there is someone out there who would fall for it.

These are teh kind of thigns that we report to the state attorney general. They actually have people on staff, and an anonymous website that you can report stuff like this to. I hate thieves.

Oh I get the calls from some insurance company who leave messages or start the convo with "this is MR Smuckatlie with Smuckatlie Anderson and Wiley firm" and is all serious like their some Law Firm. Ask right off the bat, "are you the owner of Blue Ridge" yada yada, when I ask who are you again and if your soliciting anything I'm going to hang up,,,they cut me off and state this is serious and insist to know who the owner of the business is and "assured me he wasn't soliciting anything". Then start asking you questions like how many workers do you have all intimidating as if trying to scare you only to find out it's an insurance company wanting to sell me workers comp. I cussed that effer out and told him I wouldn't buy anything from someone who started there sales pitch like it was an interrogation or someone who lied about soliciting. He almost got my info but he was so 'in your face" I thought I was being sued and backed up and said your not going to talk to me that way nor am I giving you any information,,,if I'm in some sort of trouble send me a subpoena. Then I found out he was selling workers comp...But this thing from MADD is legit I called the number and chewed them out. They put an account number and everything on there like it was a collections dept type thing with a "must pay by" date.
