lost bid

I bid a strip mall at .03 cents per sq. ft. and they hired someone else. It came out to $670 quarterly. I'm a little furious about losing the bid because I did a lot of legwork for nothing and I was the first to ask or bid on it.

Whats yalls thoughts on that price?

They probably already knew who they were using, but needed to submit 3 bids. Dont let it bother you just move on to the next one you will win.

You should have asked them what the awarding bid was. Most companies will tell you. Maybe a hack went in there and bid it at $150 and got it..never know.

The next call u get may be from the P/M asking why they have u on video pissing on there trees. Not sure if that will get u in the door, I never went at it that way?

I lost a bid in my area too on a shopping center that looks like crap and is fairly new. I bid it @ .05 a sf and lost it to a co. that does porter service, PW,and a few other things that i dont offer. But I saw a guy working last night and lets just say that they went with the wrong guy. He was blasting the crete with the PW full speed and the tip about a half inch away from the floor. Went back and saw the work this morning and was shocked. the only thing he did was remove gum and leave swirl marks all over. I dont know who the contractor is but they are from tx. Just get tired of contractors stepping into my area and doing sh!tty work.:nono: Stay home if you are going to do sh!tty work :nono:. sory guys im good now :dance3:

Just bid a 65000 sqf parking garage for 3.5 cents per foot. I felt I was GIVING the work away, but I really wanted this job for a couple of reasons.

Guess what the winning bid was......
Drum roll please.....
$875, by some jerk with a Lowes pressure washer and a old pick-up truck. I hope it takes him a month to do that job!!!!!!!!

I am just amazed that their are such Ignorant P/M companies that will let this happen, they get what they deserve.

Well I don't have much input in regards to your flat-work price (I be greaser)..but why be furious?

Try to keep in mind.

I was just a little upset because he told me it was my job. Four months later, I learn he's looking at someone elses bid and yesterday he said he's going with them. When they tell you to your face the job is yours, you need x amount of insurance, ect. Then they do this to you, you get a little mad. Honesltly, by the looks of things, he probably cant do it at the moment but wont say it. Lots of vacant units.

Well every liar comes from the womb.

I try to not ever burn bridges. You know that you are the right guy for the job and they may realize that they've chosen the wrong guy. Stay in touch, be nice and when the other company let's him down, he's already got your info and he'll appreciate you not having been a jerk when you didn't get the job the first time around.

They still may call you after the guy they hired does a **** job. Like JO says don't burn that bridge.

Speaking of being P'd off we just got done doing the fourth estimate on this parking garage that is under the water table here(Long Story). Every time they wanted to add something or change something. They also requested all of these bids be typed out. We followed everything to the tee then today we get a call that the cesspool company will powerwash the garage after they pump out the disaster(Its 6" under water). Wasted my time but who knows maybe in the future they call us when they realize the cesspool company can not do the job right.

On a different note we just won a bid to do another parking garage for $15,000 thats scheduled for July..So you win some, you lose some and some just be happy you never got it.
