Live from Myrtle Beach... It is the Jeff and Ron Show!!

I just returned to the hotel from the first day of the round table. I have been to many, spoken at a few and helped plan several. If there were an olympic event for PW Round Tables..... This would be one to beat. Below is my take on it and personal opinions, In no way am I contrasting and comparing the event to the other RT's, I have never been to a bad event.

The setting: Professional atmosphere, comfortable room, great lunch.

The Speakers: Five Star. See below

UAMCC: This organization is off to a great start. The organizational framework that they discussed and presented was well done. Carlos has a clear vision of what the UAMCC needs to be and what it need to do for contractors. One thing that was evident to me is that he has masterfully put together a team that will (and is) make it happen. I am excited about this organization in the upcoming future.... I suspect great things are about to happen!

Jeff LaCours: For someone to stand in front of 2 dozen NC/SC contractors and tell them (and all of the others in attendence) how to access a market that will compete with him is a testament to his character. I left the event today with a wealth of information from Jeff that justifies in itsself, the cost of the trip, airfair and such. This information is worth a lot of money..... To leave just one lecture with enough information to access HOA and a whole new market for my business and 2009 business plan is priceless... What is it worth to you? And as a plus, he is a great public speaker.

Robert Hinderliter: I have heard Robert speak before. As Jeff is the Condo King, Robert is the Clean Water Act / BMP king. Very informative and detailed presentation. Thanks Robert.

Ron Musgraves: Kick A$$ presentation.... Powerpoint presentation slides were awsum. The work he put into this event was obvious. The planning, atmosphere and setuo was comparable to Nursing Conferences that I have attended that cost me $500-$800 dollars. While many of us were in the bar "networking" last night, Ron was in the classroom with one of his employees creating a professional atmosphere that was condusive to learning. The information that Ron shared was also invaluable. In Ron's presentation, he gave information on how to make money in the commercial service area, there was no hidden agenda, no catch line.... For someone to put this much information out to the industry and fellow contractors is unheard of.... Cleary deserving of a heartfelt kudos and thank you!

Tomorrow will be another cool day with the demonstrations. There are many many many pressure washing toys here that would make any contractor envious (including me). John T has his swabby here, Sunbrite has a riding surface cleaner, and there are some pretty cool rigs in the parking lot...

See some of the classroom pictures below...

Look for one of these event in an area near you!

Hey Matt, I thought I heard your voice when I was listening to Palmetto's audio feed. I'd also like to mention his name and thank him for setting up a second feed for those of us that were unable to be there in person. I'm looking forward to hearing more about UAMCC and the rest of the RT.

Jeff from Palm was our go to guy on site today. We'd have been in the dark without him. Very cool to sit this far away and be able to listen and watch. Thanks to Ron, Jeff L and to all that made it possible including others on the Yahoo chat that helped sort out technical problems. Thank God for geeks.

Guys, I want to let you know what a guy Matt is.
We had a 50/50 for St. Judes, Matt won the drawing
and donated it back, so all of the proceeds went to St. Judes.
Matt, once aagian THANK YOU so much for what you did.

I wish I could have seen the live feeds, that would have been so cool.
Big Congrats. to Matt and for giving back... St. Judes Children's Hospital is a great cause to support. One of the best concerts I ever attended was a St. Judes Benefit concert in Connecticut at a bar about 7-8 yrs. ago. It was Aaron Tippin, Tammy Cochran and Tanya Tucker. That was a heck of a show.

The Rest of the story......

About 70 percent of the attendees stayed over for Day 2.

The Breakfast (Courtesy of Jeff LaCours) was excellent.

Rachel (? Last Name) (I think I have gotten her first name correct, I apologize for not getting it written down) was a chemist that spoke at breakfast. As a speaker she was excellent, articulate, intellegent and able to present her information in a manner that was applicable to our industry. Her presentation was five star. I Learned a lot of useful information for what I do on a daiy basis while working. She is someone worth flying in for other round tables to speak at.

Bob Williamson: He did a demonstration of the "BobCat", his new roof cleaning chemical applicator. That little machine is the "cat's a$$". I plan on buying one as soon as my wife gives me the OK. Likely this fall - it is getting late in the season, definently next spring.

Pete and Tracey from Sunbrite: They did a demonstration of their prototype riding Surface Cleaner. It cleaned the sidewalks well and seemed to work pretty easily. I suspect it will be a hot Item once it is in production. Thanks Pete and Tracey

Ron Musgraves: A bunch of contractors (including myself) went on a walk through of an abandoned large shopping mall. There was a discussion on the problem areas, challenges and different stains on substrates that we encountered. With the large group of contractors that were present, it was an excellent "workshop" to touch on everyones experience to learn the options available to overcome issues, access the property managers and minimize contractor liability.

As I sit on the airport awaiting a ride back to New York courtesy of US Air, I have to say this to Jeff, Ron and the Staff..... Thanks for a great event and I hope to see you at next years Myrtle Beach event.

Spelling Correction

I spoke with Jeff from Palmetto to get the correct spelling of a chemist speaker. The first name correct spelling is Rachael....

Yes this was one bad a$$ round table we learned alot! Way to go Matt for giving the 50/50 back to Saint Judes.... Your a good man! Thanks to all who made this all possible, and to all the great people who took time out to chat with us, you made our visit a great time! And to Ron, Sorry about the T.V.! Thanks for all that was done by Ron and Jeff! A true 5 star show! We also got to see the ZIP by SunBrite and the Bob Cat, Pressure Tek, both great peices of equipment!

It really was a great event. Very informative. Sorry I didn't say bye to ya Ron, but you were busy talking, didn't wanna interrupt. Now let's see if I can translate all of this into the business. Ron, would it be at all possible to post that Powerpoint presentation somewhere? I'd really appreciate it.
