I've seen it all over peoples cars where the mulch bed on both sides of driveway. Some insurances will pay to replace siding or in the case of a car, buff job. Simply knowing what it is, has helped us land many jobs. We show experience and knowledge over the weekend warriors.

My son works at a Audi dealership and the detailer was scrapping Artillery Fungus off a new car. He didn't have a clue what it was until I told him. I think the landscaper got a phone call.

Hey Art, there was a landscape supply company in Pa that was sued a few years ago for selling mulch which caused the issue. Not sure how it went.
So who's responsible,.the landscape supply,..the landscaper,..or nature?????
My feeling is,..even we as property cleaners are aware of the issue of mulch,..I think the landscape supply people and landscapers alike, who are handling mulch on a somewhat regular basis ought to be up on this issue by now and it would be courteous of them to make the customer aware,... I think they would lose sales of mulch,..but would possibly gain sales in stone,..
I've turned alot of people onto stone,..Especially someone with a newer house without the an issue. Some though,..don't really believe it will happen to them so they continue with mulch,...then sure enough,..a few years later they appear and the customers are asking what can be done.
Those pretty white vinyl picket fences look nice,...especially when all speckled up with AF. I remember warning a lady who just had one of these put up for her backyard to keep the dog in,... I even showed them to her on her siding before she ever put anything down,...well she put mulch down all around the fence,..and now,...what a mess, she asked me how to remove it,...shaking my head,..not many choices,..then I showed her the magic eraser,...she has alot of fence,..alot of expense, and now alot of work to get it looking nice again.
*Sometimes on smooth vinyl or aluminum a pressure washer with a fan tip will remove them, just depends though on condition of material and how long the AF has been there.
