dang it!

BOYS!!!And not those boys.

I will tell you from experience that the painted reels wont hold up compared to the aluminum or stainless reels.

I like the summit reels but the paint is garbage. I have a few going on 4 years old that are in fair shape but I have had to replace some due to rusting through and the bracing breaking causing the reels to wobble.

The older cox reels we had did not last at all, the center of the reels broke just as did on the Hosetracts.

Also the Rapid reel is a great reel for the money, I just personally dont like the way the hose has to bend to gt to the swivel.

I really like this new hannay reel I got a month or so ago. Great tensioner, great lock, and comes with super swivel to boot. I am unsure on the paint however at 250 locally they are hard to beat

I love my hannay reels. I started out with rapid reels they were cheap to by but don't hold up well. But made 10-15 stops a day. Most washers have fewer accounts to do in one day. Maybe just 2 or 3 larger accounts so they don't have to winde up the reel so many times in one day.

I tried Steel eagles, the poly dried out and snaped off the trailer. Stainless didnt work, chems and heat tore them up.

Painted hannays have worked fine, Cox since we toured the factory have made changes.

Ron how does the finish hold up on them? I dont mean looking pretty, I mean does the paint stivk or peal away leaving rusty metal like summit?

It wears off....rust for sure.

The stainless I have tried the chems tore up...

We now use a chemical paint on them, we scratch the new ones and then spray coat them with marine paint. touch stuff....

I got about five years out of my Cox brand reels. I am going to give some Hannays a try. I can't complain about the five years, because there is not telling how many thousands of feet those reels have wound, but, even though Cox is local to me, I found it easier to source Hannay reels at a decent price.

Cox running strong no Problems Yet

I'm sure everyone here has been worried sick Ron. This is great news. I'm sure many here will be happy to know that your cox is still up and running strong. :clapping:

wow......

I have several cox reels and the reel itself holds up well but I've had to do alot of seal kits on the piece of crap swivels. Called to try and get a newer model swivel (or heavy duty swivel) for them and hell they want almost as much for the swivel as they do for a whole new reel. Seal kits are $20...... usually change em out 3 times a year cause they blow out. I love the rapid reels... mine haven't had an issue in several years plus being in a cargo van type environment I build a reel tree and it saves a ton of space in the van. The lock mechanism is kind of crappy but the reel seems to hold up well.

We've got one electric Coxreel and one manual. We keep about 300 ft on the electric. It doesn't do well with pulling out 30 ft and full hot water. Now it's oval shaped instead of round.

Also the area near the connection is too sharp and we had to put duct tape on to keep it from slicing the hose.

We also had to change out the swivel to a superswivel on both of them. Superswivels have been zero trouble!

The electric motor is great though!
