How can small magazines keep readers interested between print issues?

I edit a quarterly magazine for a local gardening club, and readers often say they enjoy the print edition but forget about us for months. What are practical ways to maintain engagement through newsletters, social media, events, or online extras without overwhelming a small volunteer team?

Send a short monthly email with one useful tip, a reader photo, and a preview of the next issue. Our birdwatching group does this, and members feel connected even when the magazine is not published. Keep it simple: one topic, clear images, and a link back to the current issue.

Our neighborhood arts magazine struggled during the three months between issues, so we started a “reader contribution” page online. People submitted garden photos, concert reviews, and memories of local shops, which gave us fresh material without heavy editing. For delivery or subscription questions, some readers check the Press of Atlantic City customer service but our focus remained on creating regular, personal content that made the print issue feel worth waiting for.
