Hiring a Manager

I need some suggestions, not that I may heed them.

A friend, a good friend is looking for work. His past experience includes managining pizza places and a large grocery. he increased the grocery business by about 30 %, had 75 + employees. While not very versed in mechanical things, he is good w/figures, and people.

My company is beyond my management skills. I am good w/the mechanical portion, but my management skills are terrible. I am considering offering my friend a position, not a part of the company, but as an employee.

Go ahead, tell me what you think of this idea.

No friends ever. If it dont work out, what are you going to do.

The funny thing about this is that the guys I work with are all my best friends. I think if you have a good relationship with all the guys you work with there is no reason that a friend wouldn't work out. If the guys that work for you are only there to make a buck and you know that they would move on if they ever got a better offer, then you are probably not the kind of guy a friend would want to work for.

I agree with Bryan. If it is a good relationship than it can be a good buisness deal. Sit and talk to him and sound out what you expect and see if he can come to terms.

Friends will work out if they respect you. I had one childhood friend work for me for about 6-7yrs part time when I first started. The last three years I had a close friend work fulltime for me. I also took him to the Last PWNA Convention. He worked out great for the three years but now he's on to another opportunity which hurt my business a little but I completely understood it. So if he's a friend that you can trust then I would hire him..Definitely!!

If it doesn't work out then thats life. I have friends who have brothers working for them so if that can be done so can hiring a friend..
