I have to agree. Time to upgrade the server or let someone else take it over. If you are thinking of that Mike, give me a call.
 
Taking on water or not, I'm still the captain of the ship. I am investigating a solution to this problem.........and, like I have said before, it will be resolved in the winter time. This is a busy time for me, and I cannot devote too much time to the board at the moment............but will soon.

I'm sure I'll get it up to speed and back to the top. Thanks for your support.
 
Captain, do you have a first mate, lol? If not, would you like some help. I mainly do all my work at night so I may be able to give you a hand during the day. I may also have some work for you this winter in the philly area. I will be there for new years this year. We should meet and talk.
 
Its been offered many times by several quality members, but Mike will fix it in the winter.
 
hey guys, the site is hosted on my server. we are taking from air band back to a T1 after the first of the year.

Mikes doing all he can. keep in mind that this sites graphics are larger and nothing is being dumped. some of the others sites dont allow certain pictures and have restrictions.

I have experienced that trouble with the site crawling also.

remember that its free and Mike does not make a dime off the site. he donates the time baby sitting. LOL just kidding children,,OPPs

I could really do without the sarcasm. It has no place here, and does nothing but harm. But if that makes you feel good, go for it.

We have many quality members.........probably more then any other board.........however, I question how many of them know PHP and the other things necessary to effectively troubleshoot this board.

I'm currently going though one of the hardest, most stressful times in my life to date.........( don't worry, thankfully everyone is healthy.....) ..........and logging on here and reading something like that is disheartening. I'm doing the best I can at this time, and it will be rectified soon enough.

As I posted on PWNA's board, you could always take the fees we all pay and upgrade the system and move it to a new server...

Oh, that's right...we don't pay anything. Dang.

I have a dial up connection, and I don't see a huge difference in the speed here as opposed to other boards...Sure, it is a bit slower, but no slower than it has always been. Maybe I get a little aggrivated sometimes, but hell, maybe I need to learn a little patience and APPRECIATION for the thankless labor of someone who gets nothing material out of running this board and putting up with the sarcasm of others.

This is the only board that I am aware of that doesn't benefit the owner financially. I'm sure the lower activity here in the past few months isn't all due to the speed of the board...Beth's board has grown quite a bit, and people only have so much time to surf...

Thanks, Mike, for all the dedication you've shown to this and other boards, and to the industry as a whole. It IS appreciated.

I don't think anyone has tried to make this personal against you.

I think we all appreciate your fruitless efforts.

Some of us have noticed a change in the speed the board operates. Others may not have noticed the differance at all because of the equipment they utilize.

I would like to help you any way that I possibly can.

Mike, there was no sarcasm intended, I was only stating the facts and reiterating your promise to look into the problems this winter. If you are taking it as an attack, I apologize.
But again, if you are to overloaded to take care of things that need to be taken care of, ASK FOR HELP.
 
WOW, great to know that Mike is appreciated.... I certainly am thankfull that Mike looks and takes care of things., I really like the fact that some understand that Mike does this for FREE.

Maybe a POST thanking the people who do give. Mike if you need anything just call. Looks like everyones still here to help.


PWI it will always be a bbs i will look at when time permits.

The fact that you have nothing to gain by operating this board and you put time into it anyway shows that you truly have a passion for this trade. Keep up the good work and I hope everything works out for you.

Thanks all. I guess my mistake here is not providing MY definition of "winter".

Winter for me does not begin when the calendar says it does............winter for me begins when I can't clean gutters anymore............which is typically sometime around the new year. November and December are just out of the question.
 
Thanks Mike, I dont think I'm back.. I'm just to busy with my Kids. any extra time is being spent with them.

My wife was back in the midwest for T-day and gets back tomorrow. I will be back to my regular schedule thank goodness.
