Hello from central Illinois

Hi all,

i am in the beginning stages of getting started up. Equipment is purchased, insurance is in effect, logo, business cards, vehicle magnets, and fliers just came in. Now it is time to find some work!! I have tuned in my new equipment on several of my friends homes as well as mine. I am happy with my house mix and equipment is running properly. I am now waiting for the phone to ring:) At the moment I am advertising for all kinds of pressure washing. Hopefully i can find a niche and specialize in one certain area. My problem is that I live in a tiny town halfway in between 2 small towns. Not sure where most of my work may come from. There is obviously plenty of resedential work, some commercial work, I expect alot may be with agriculture equipment and fleets. I guess we will just wait and see. i am sure I will have plenty of stupid newbie questions:) Thanks for having me!!!

We've all been there!!

No worries, we all had stupid newbie questions at one time. I've been doing this for several years now and once I joined the forum found out I had tons more of those questions. This is a great place to learn, you're in the right place.

:welcome:

He really needs to call Dave Olden in Danville. He might give him some local help.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have been booked ever spare second I have available:) I guess that's a good start? Every job brings more experience and I am getting a good set-up and breakdown procedure in place to try and save time. I have realized I want to try a ball valve at the end of my pressure hose so I can switch between my normal wand and my telescoping wand without having to run all the way back to the van and shut the washer down etc.. Most of the jobs I have been getting is residential which is fine because that's what my current set-up is best for. I do have an unusual job lined up in a few weeks. I have been asked to come in and clean 3 concrete grain silos. One is 100 ft tall and the other 2 are 60 ft. These silos were converted into an indoor rock climbing facility around 5 years ago. The business went under 3 years ago. Since then pigeons have made their home inside! The pigeons have been removed and their point of entry is blocked off. Now it's time to clean up their poo. There is no way to get a scissor lift etc.. inside. The plan is to repel from the ceiling cleaning from the top to the bottom. Wetting everything down first to keep the dust down. Full face respirator and protecive outer clothing. Plan to wash the bulk of the material out, then go back with bleach to kill any fungus/organisms left behind. This one will surely be a hge learning experience!! Has anyone taken on a project like this? Any tips?

Scott, do you think Dave would mind a call from me? It never hurts to gain local information!!

Thanks Everyone:)
