Doesn't this completely go against NFPA 96's statement about no mesh filters? It looks like this would not at all be UL listed or approved. Supposedly its already in use with some Applebee's restaurants. Take a look and tell me your thoughts.

I'm not sure I care about the standard so much as "does it work"? That's typically the problem with regulations...they rarely are the best and typically remove great, viable options from the market.
I think there is a market for this type of filter! Picture the hood you clean with 100+ yards of duct, or multiple kitchens on an "inaccessible" duct. I foresee cleaners replacing these filters with scheduled filter exchanges.
This could mean more work, not less...IF the market will pay for it!
 
I believe these have already been discussed here before, just not sure where...
