Gonna be hot today!

OK we've all heard it before If you're going to be out in the heat stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water, avoid caffeine, all that right? Well last Thursday I knew better that everybody. This ain't that bad I'll be fine. Sound familiar?? Yours truly ended up in the ER Friday getting IV fluids. So PLEASE drink plenty of water or sports drinks. The heat most of us are feeling now will take you down if you aren't careful.

I keep a 48qt. ice chest in the truck all the time and everyday I am working I will go and empty the water from the day before and add more water/gatorade and then ice so I have stuff to drink all day long.

The problem is, the ice melts sometimes in a few hours, it does not last like the label says 5 days, maybe if that ice chest was inside the house the ice would last 5 days or maybe if that ice chest was inside another larger ice chest, maybe the ice would last 5 days. hahahahaha

Everytime I am at the stores, I am looking for the thicker walled ice chests so maybe the ice will last longer on the hot days but I have not found any better ice chests out there.

Everyone working outside needs to keep hydrated all day long, drink plenty of fluids and stay safe out there.
 
Thanks for all the compassion my brothers from other mothers. But like Forrest said stupid is as stupid does. I were stupid in spades. Gonna keep more to drink in the truck. Just didn't take the time to drink enough all day.

Hey Chris if the drinks are pre-chilled and it's below 90 and the cooler is in the shade you might get a day and a half out of the ice. I hear the Yeddi cooler is a good cooler but expensive.
 
If you wait until you get to work on a hot day to drink a lot of fluid it can be too late.
Check the forecast if it's going to be really hot the next day start hydrating the night before.
 
Great point Mark. I've heard start the night before and no less than 2 hours before going out. Also ice cold may not be good if you are feeling the results of not stay hydrated. Don't want to shock the system.
