I had a quick question... My current providor is going to be dropping my coverage at the end of this month because we added lot sweeping to our pressure washing services. I guess it is too much of a liability even though we have not had a single claim since we started almost 5 years ago. The other quotes my agent has found are about $4000 a year, this seems way to high to me. I just wanted to check and see who others that also offer sweeping were using and about what your paying. I will also look around on the search feature as well. I was just hoping to hear from anyone that also does sweeping.

Call Valerie Morton at IOA 407-788-3000, Tell her AC sent you.

Call Cyndi at Althoff. She will work harder for you then any agent I have met. 480-969-3001

That is a little old post but the information would be useful for others who get to this thread by google or search..

A few factors you need to know, that many insurance agent do not know. This lack of knowledge can cost you a lot in a long term or you can be overpaying by a simple agent's mistake.

First thing, you need to know which insurance code you classify under. This is essential for your premium. Here is an example: "Street cleaning: 99303" is different than "Parking area cleaning/paving 92215". As far as parking lot sweeping, 92215 is the more accurate code. I think the code for power washing is 90511 (Cleaning or washing by pressure apparatus)
Another important thing to consider is if your insurance policy has blanket. That means that your insurance can cover as many clients and properties as you need to, aka "certificate of Additional Insured". If you are not covered, often each certificate will cost you $100, when you will have one time jobs for as low as $250 or even less and the client will need to add you in his vendor list as you will need to add him to your insurance.

Often agents are not familiar with the type of work we do and make mistakes for which we pay...

This is so true! When I was shopping around for insurance I had a agent give me a quote that was more than twice what everyone else had given me. So, I had to know what the difference was and come to find out after a few phone calls the agent didn't know which code to put me in so just picked one and boy was he wrong....
