Gasoline in My Duramax Diesel

I did the same thing about 2 months ago.....Its 2 in the morning and I pull up to a station in the middle of no where (2 hrs from home and hr from my destination). 3 black handles and one green....Which one do you use ........um the green one not really looking. About 2 miles down the road it dies......Long story short had a trooper friend come help me out. Took 2 hrs draining the tank. Still wouldn't start so we towed it 75 miles for 140.00....After getting there the tow truck driver said let me try to prime it.....ten mins later its running.....changed the filter that day and runs fine.........I did waste 28 gals of gas on the side of the road......
What really pissed me off was the 3 black handle and one green.....green was 87 oct.
Done the exact same thing except I only put mine into a can....

Never heard of adding gas into the diesel for the winter months, at the refinery we just added a little bit of jet fuel (high grade kerosene) to the diesel and that lowered the freezing point so it would not freeze unless it was about -40 to -50 degrees.

It is standard practice to use gasoline as a anti coagulating agent in diesel. Until 1984 Mecedes TD diesel engines were listed on being able to run on a 30% tank of gas and diesel to help with cold weather starting and the possibility of no diesel in an area.
Modern diesels are not so tolerant and the lube qualitites of diesel are needed to keep injectors and fuel pumps in good shape.
