Garbage Truck Pricing

OK all you gurus out there I need your help quick. I am meeting with the owner of a trash company next week - he has 8-10 trucks that he is interested in having cleaned. Four of the trucks don't have dumpsters but the other four do. As I'm new to this side of this pressure washing business I need help with pricing. I think I have all the information I need as far as what products to use but the pricing side of it has me stumped. I don't want to underprice but at the same time I don't want to scare him away. From what he has told me he would want them washed regularly and then occasionally he would want a full detail inside and out. Do I quote an hourly rate or a set rate for each truck? Any help you guys could give me would be very much appreciated. I'm situated in Florida - thought I'd mention that because I know that pricing varies from state to state.

Flat rate per truck/ Have them done at thier lot on a Sat or Sun. You can down stream lo pressure chem and brush the bad stuff ( stack smoke PTO grease and drainage from the container) Goes pretty quick. Rise at high pressure and no wipe down. If he wants interiors of containers done bid that sperate and higher. Bid cab detailing sperate as well. Also ask if they have vinyl lettering this determines what chems you can use on the trucks.

We used to get $30 for rear loaders and $35 for side loaders. We didn't offer cab detailing nor cleaning of the boxes.
I agree with Alexy that box, frame and cabs are additional charges and should be billed at a higher rate.
Scott Stone told me the rates I was getting weren't typical and after talking with several fleetwashers I have no doubt we were making good cabbage for twice a month cleaning.

In retrospect, I would not do them for less than $30 a piece. I have done them as cheap as $12, and quite honestly, every garbage guy thinks that his truck is a show piece. They are usually a piece, but not show worthy, if you get my drift.

I have talked to a few companies out there but I have not heard back yet. They were interested in cleaning out the insides too so I was thinking of what to charge for that.

Charge what you feel is fair and if they don't pay then either your price is too high or they are too cheap, either way, make what the market will bear or more if possible.

Good Luck.

we have a contract with one of the largest trash truck company in the country . And they pay 23.00 per truck weekly and we clean 30 trash truck and 10 roll offs , and the roll off are most the time worst. trash truck suck on to clean on week that rainy because of land fill gets mud. But if you get them on weekly clean the truck are not bad. good luck

Just got the ok the other day to do a small fleet of trash trucks, exterior and some engine degreasing and cleaning between the cab and box as that is where a lot of junk gets when the front loader dumps the box, the liquid goes there instead of the box on the truck. They need a welder to put a plate up there to prevent that from happening.

They told me that they want between 1-3 trucks washed every week starting this weekend so that will be good.

Working on 3 other fleet accounts, one that was in the works before the Hurricane that tore up Galveston and one that never had enough trucks there on the days that they wanted them washed. The last is a company that I have not approached before. They have between 6-10 small box trucks so that would not be too bad.
