Fleet Washing Chemicals

Ok, lets see if we can get a discussion going.

I want to know what you guys use (as far as chems) for fleet washing. Please let us know what you like and don't like about the products.

I do mainly detailing and hand washing, so I use ZEP-O-SHINE wash and I wash by hand with a wool mitt or a soft brush when I am doing larger trucks and RVs.

I look forward to your imput.

Well, thats the rules...............feel free to start a similar thread in the Distributors Section and let's hear what they all have to say.
 
I used Steve's Atlas and I was very unimpressed. then again, had to brush everything so it may not have been the chem.

BROWN DERBY is now my main soap.
sod. hyd. clean's better then sod. marticilate. At least for me.
I also 2 step with HF.
i AM GOING TO TRY dAN'S WAY OF PRE-SPRAYING.
Dan use's a soap that's $600 for 55gal but you can cut it 100 to 1
It's called GLORY.
GWAS has a soap that he claim's is the truckwash soap to end all other soap's.
Dont know where to get it but he might sell it?
Who here re-claim's?
 
I use a variety of chemicals, and do zero two stepping. the chemicals I use are:
BLue pressure washing powder from Ankem Chemicals www.ankem.com Salesman is Joe Schumaker if they ask. A really good guy, and deserves the commission.
Brown Truck Soap from Ankem Chemicals
www.ankem.com Same as Delco r-110 wash and wax
DNB-1433 from Delco www.dcs1.com same as Brown Derby, etc. Good stuff

The first two are Sodium Metasilicate based, the last one is Sodium Hydroxide based. They all can do a brushless job, for the most part, if the trucks are on a regular schedule.

As for Recovery, I have the equipment on my trailer, and can use it at any time. I do not usually have enough run off to worry about it though. I certainly use it more than Fleetwash does in this area.

right now i use bond braker from inviro spec its ok... best ive used so far but havent used alot. tyed steves atlas for fleet i wasnt that impresed to be honest iam still tryin to find something that works better all my fleet washing is on a schedule basis most are done twice a week and are keep really clean, have good paint but there are still alot of times we brush i do rocover in some cases but my system is pretty low teck i use a steal plate with a rubber seal on it to block the drain and then use a sump pump the pump the water either to a oil water seperator that is on site or into a tank that i take to a lott wast water plant that i dump the tank.

if anyone can recomend a new soap for me to try i would apprecate it i know it should not be done on this board so shot me an e mail dboy261@yahoo.com thanks and i hope to see more threads on fleet washing !!!!!

Sorry to limit the vendor post, but to many people start a "wand" measuring contest with "my soap is better than your soap".


What are the Pros and Cons of using a Sodium Metasilicate based chem VS a Sodium Hydroxide based chem?
 
I have found that gutter zap doesn't like unpainted aluminum, at least that is my limited experience in using it to get the black streaks off my trailer. Made a mess of the aluminum diamond plate and the aluminum fenders. It did get the streaks off the painted portion of the trailer (white 7x14 enclosed). Had to buy some aluminum polishing compound to clean up the fenders and splash guard.
 
First of all, unless things have totally changed, it is okay to mention the distributors of products on this board. That is part of the reason that no sponsors are allowed, it makes for a more open environment.
Sodium Metasilicate has a lower pH and there for is not caustic. It won't burn you and gives you a little latitude in cleaning trucks. It is also a pretty good degreaser, and rinses well. The disadvantage is that it can cause spotting on glass that looks like hard water spots, even if you do rinse it off while it is still wet. The NaOH is a higher pH and is also caustic, and can burn you with chemical burns. It is much better at neutralizing acids if you are tow stepping, and is also is a very good degreaser that rinses well. Usually, the Sodium Met. is less expensive to use, and that is why it is so popular.
These are the biggest differences that I have found.

That's absolutely correct. Contractors can mention whatever, and post web links. But, the distributors need to toot their own horns down in their own section. Thanks.
 
can someone tell me where i can find brown derby truck wash? thanks

i would like some info on the r-109 from delco if anyone has used it i will be useing it mostly on delivery trucks that are white that are washed 1 -2 times a week and some tractor trailer they say i can be used at 1-50 for that application i am woundering if that has been true or not also if Scott reads this how does it compair to the Blue powder truck wash from ankem . any info at all on this product would help thanks :cool:
 
my dist stopped selling soap all together.
Dont know the truth but they said cost's and shipping made it not worth it.
Called MARK yesterday, Waiting for a shipping quote.

I will say this, get your water tested to see the hardness of it.
The harder the water the more soap you'll need and the harder you'll need to rinse.
Most time's the 50 to 1 or 100 to 1 is directly related to your water.
 
ron have you used the r-109 if so did you like it. what about the brown durby what do you see are the advatages to it vs outhers youve tryed thanks also can you tell me what the hardness levels in your area are so i can see how they compair to the ones in my area i will aslo tell you what i find this way thanks agin
