I just did my first real commercial job on a hardees! It was just the flat work around the building. Drivethru,sidewalks, and curbing around 2000sf . I don't think its been cleaned in 3 years. It took me 7 hours and 200 degree water. 1000 pieces of gum that I told the owner id work on a lil here and there every month when I go back. When I go back next month I only plan on spending about 2 hours there. I see on this website talk about guys not charging enough! What would the going rate be for something like this? And what should I charge for gum removal?

Gum is always the problem, lots of gum in a Small area can take hours.

Scraping is faster, removing with the Water with old petrified gum takes a long time.

After 26 years I have no super formula for some gum, no gum or lots of gum. Its always different do to the concrete and how soft it may be. Charge alot to cover yourself in these sistuations. Charge by the hour if you can get away with it.

I wish there was a Formula, we do not like one time gum removal jobs.

Well I figured since I'm doing it monthly and I have it clean now I can remove the gum from one concrete square at a time every time I'm there and maybe some random pieces here and there to offset my time and cost. In about 8 months it should be all gone. I get 215 for cleaning from here on out. Of course for the first cleaning I charged a good bit extra. Does this sound about right? Remember I am only doing the flatwork that's around the building.
