Easy Start Valve

I just purchased an easy start valve cause I got tired of having to hold the trigger open to start my machine. If you take a look at the picture, can anyone suggest where I need to put it. I have all of the ports filled. Thanks in advance.

You can mount the easy start on the inlet port of the unloader that isn't being used. What's on the back side of the "T" that your inlet comes into? You could put the return in there if it's not being used.

Are you running off a tank or pressure feeding? If you're pulling from a tank, you really need to turn the "T" so the suction is through the run and use the branch for your easy start return. And, if those are galvanized nipples, please replace them with brass. They will rust and dump flakes into your pump.

Russ,

I use to have this system setup with a tank, but have recently mounted inside a cargo van for KEC. The T has a plug on the other side, so I guess I could put it there. Do I have to put a 1/4 hose on the easy start valve and plug it somewhere?

Also, the nipples that look galvanized are actually stainless 304. Can you explain how the easy start valve works when the engine is started? I have an idea, but want to make sure I am correct.

Thanks for all your help.

If you pull the plug on the back side of the "T", you can get a 1/2" MPT X 1/4" hose barb, a short piece of polybraid hose, and a couple of clamps, and you've got it licked.

Stainless is way good for inlet plumbing. SS, brass, or plastic.

The easy start consists of a ball and seat with a spring. At zero pressure, the ball unseats from its mating surface, allowing the water to bypass...like an unloader. When the machine comes up to speed and pressure, the ball seats, and the machine works as normal.

If you plumb the system for tank-feed,
just as the unloader should bypass to the tank,
plumb the EasyStart valve to the tank,
with it's own connection at the tank..
That makes it super-easy to troubleshoot.

Russ,

If I had the unloader bypassed to a buffer tank, would I still need the easy start valve?

If you want it easy to start, then, yes, you'd still need it. Bypassing to the tank won't change the fact that the unloader will trap pressure between the pump and gun.
