Door-to-door

There are some days that doing door-to-door sales can really bring a smile to your face. On Friday I was able to get in a few door-to-door contacts when I had some down time while on a job with Jeff. I had a series of 3 houses which each left me with a smile of some sort.

The first house was a little old lady who chatted my ear off about the allergens in this town. She said she recognized us and that we are a "very respected and reputable company" that has been around for years! This made me laugh because we're a new operation started in the last year! But who am I to argue with my elders. :p

The second home had a woman in it that was so happy to see me. Her husband had just gotten home that day after a 6 month stay in the hospital and she had been wanting her home and gutters cleaned but simply had no time to research and find someone to do it. She was thankful that we came to her. That attitude doesn't happen a lot with door-to-door so it was refreshing to come across it and I was glad to take one more chore off her list.

The third home was the most amusing by far. An older lady answered the door and after listening to my spiel, informed me that I was "robbing the elderly" by not offering my services for free to anyone who wanted it. She then instructed me that next time I see my "friends at the power company" I need to inform them to stop putting flags on her lawn as she has to go out every morning and remove the new ones they keep putting there. I told her next time I run into them, I'd be happy to pass along the message and wished her a good afternoon. As I left her house I noticed a whole pot full of flags! :p
