Cold Weather roof cleaning

I personally require at least 60 degrees to clean a roof as I find it doesn't do as good of a job below that.

I don't do any house washing or roof cleaning down here in Texas unless the temps are above 60 degrees, seems like at 50 the chemicals stop working.

There are guys out there that say otherwise but over the years I quit trying to work jobs where the chemicals don't want to work at those temps, it is up to you if you want to experiment on the job and see.

Concrete cleaning, fleet washing, etc..... no problem but when it comes to using SH to clean, warmer the better, at least at or above 60 is where I am at and I let the customers know why so on days when it warms up, no problem.

I cleaned my own roof back on December 6th. Temp was 37 degrees when we started and ended. Cleaned up like it was in the 70's. Have done two roofs since then and the temps were in the 40"s. No problems at all. Used my usual mix of 10%SH, Water and Green Wash.

Thanks Guys. I will have to try it. We get lots of sun during the winter so that might help. There are way too many people around to clean these in warm weather. I will also be trying Simix Oxi On e where it is walkable. I will use hot water in the mix to apply. As soon as I do the test I will post how it goes.

I'm in New England and as soon as the temp's get into the 50ties during the day and 30ties at night roof cleaning time goes up by approximately one third and more chems are needed. Then frustration starts ,attention to detail is lost and the quality of the job goes down.

I use the same mix have cleaned roofs in the high 30s to low 40s with no problems. If we stopped washing roofs when the temp dropped below 60 we would have about a 3 month roof cleaning season here.

AC it would be nice if you would answer the question in addition to the link provided.

I understand your reason but not everyone is a member of your community that comes here.

Good point Russ , I guess only if you really want to seem helpful.

Either way looks better for all if they do.

I do often direct folks to other places I have answered questions in depth. I suppose a paragraph With a continued link might be better.,

Russ,

It is just well explained over there. The Soft Wash BB is more like a database of information. These BB systems are great for categorizing info and archiving it by topic. You need to join to see the info. That is NO COST. I just have people become members so that we can keep the drama down on a productive way to get information. Hope you understand.
