NICE JOB!
Looks like it's going to be a great BBS.

Beth

Why am I not excited? What is the gain to this community? Are we going to be better off-the hits and the updates will be the same as the last site. Why do we need five sites with the same questions and the same look to boot. This whole thing is getting to be a big bore-and I contribute more than some and less than others. Am I the only one who feels this way?

David

David,

The PWNA has wanted to have there own BBS for a long time, while updating our main web site.

When we began working on our BBS, I asked Ron if we could start one on his. which he obviously allowed us to do.

Ours has been under construction for about 6 months. Now we finally have the BBS up and running and are extremely happy and proud.

Our main web site should be revamped and up and running in about 3 weeks to a month. Which I think is going to be incredible. We hope it becomes a great (Home to the Pressure washing contractor.) along with there prospective customers.
I will still check in with this Ron's BBS from time to time so which ever one you want to call home, feel free..
Thanks for your comments

Chris Detter :) :) :)

You just went around the question-Why does PWNA need a BBS? All you are doing is just making the other sites weaker. If you want to come out with a new site use a new format. Look how many hit were made in PWNA Today. You and other leaders seldom if ever made a post.I don't think Doc or Mike has made a post on this BBS.

On this BBS there are active members and for the most part have supported your issues. Now your job is done and off you go with a part of the pie.

This BBS will be weaker and the PWNA site will be weak-PWNA should develop programs for the member. The BBS is a distraction-smoke and mirrors. Flood the membership with bullet point programs, so that the membership thinks we are building substantial program gains.

Why not call Delco your PWNA Home site? Why not use Rons site? What you did was cut and run and thanks for the ride.

The PWNA needs a bbs for sure. And why not use the VBulletin format, everyone knows its the best!!

Why do we need a bbs? Because it will allow better communication. And better communication will lead to a better association. The bbs has members only sections to allow members to provide direct input to the various committees, and will also allow the Board of Directors to communicate better.

It will archive all of the info and be searchable.........which will be great.

You have to realize, David, that a bbs really overall does not cost that much money. I think we will easily get our moneys worth out of it.

As far as ditching PWI, Ron is fully aware of what we are doing, and has no problems with it. We intend to continue the "PWNA Today" forum on PWI, and I will read it every day. Sometimes I don't answer a question on there because I simply dont know the answer! Afterall, I am somewhat new at this, and I am at times reluctant to speak for the organization as a whole.

I agree with you that more bulletin boards makes the others weaker. But the PWNA bulletin board is designed to do more then just discuss power washing............it is also a communication tool for running the organization, and improving membership.

Lastly, for the record, I have 102 more posts then you do on the Pressure Washing Institute board. So I guess there was no merit to the above comment.

Mike

Please give me a little break-The Mike was Hinderliter, not you. Thank you very much. PWNA need a BB like we need another brand of bottle water. Rons, Dans and Delco serve the trade very well thank you. It just makes all the other just that much weaker and for what reason. Have the member spoken up by survey?

David

David, take a friggin chill pill, will ya??!! Granted there are too many damn boards...but who gives a rats ass beside you? If you don't want to post, please do us all a favor and drink a bottle of SHUT THE HELL UP!

If anyone should have a bbs, it would be the PWNA, for all the reasons Chris and Mike listed. Do you read and understand the English language, or are you too wrapped up in your own discourse, you don't listen? The PWNA is a bonafide organization in this indstry, with a membership and community to serve. Other than Delco, all of these boards, this one included, (no offense, Ron) are self serving vanity boards.

Distributors, manufacturers and organizations often have bbs for their clients and the public at large. Half the time I don't read your c*ap, because you go off onto these rants. Maybe the PWNA bbs will do very well without your biased input. Have a nice day.

Zippo

It was nice to hear from you. I am relieved that you do not enjoy my posts-if you did on the otherhand it would be more of a concern. If I wish to be critical of a organization that I am a member I will. In fact I have been a member for five years. Frankly I don't care what you think.

David

David,

Sorry for the confusion, I thought you were talking about me. Mike Hinderliter is not on the Internet Response Team, so it is not really in his job description to read/answer on these bulletin boards.

Have a great weekend.

My oh my such a lovley topic here.

Chris I see an area of concern here, you said the PWNA has a members only section for input, ok fine but what about all the none members that have great ideas also, don't they count anymore?

By blocking them off what I see is a small elite group, not a better or worst group but members only saying stay out your not wanted UNLESS you join.

How is the PWNA ever going to grow if it continues to have closed ears and eyes to all but its small membership?

They need to open up and listen to everyone, as has been discussed increase what it offers in order to draw in new members.

I notice when I posted after someone mentioned a discount for current members I asked what about a discount to bring back old members it was ignored, makes me wonder if they care about the members who left.

What disappoints me here is none of the board really comes to ANY BBS and post replies to others, like their are above helping others out.

That on even this forum gets little attention.

That speaks loudly to me. I understand we are all busy and that the PWNA has been building thier own web site but don't you also agree that the members here want to see this forum active too?

Guess I expected to much from the PWNA board to come here and offer advice.

Oh well, a private org. is what they want and have, more power to them.

Now about my question on offering a discount to former members to rejoin? ever going to happen?

Understand even if it did I am not committed to rejoining but would like to see it happen. After they post all the new benefits offered.

Jon

Mike Hughes and ZIPPO,

Thank You!.....................

David, I certainly don't understand your dislike for Mike Hinderliter, Maybe you and he had a personal issue once, if so, I wish you would at least work it out yourselves. Why use a national bbs to vent your feelings or some personal grudge. I'm sure nobody else cares or wants to read that stuff.

Mike has been a valuable member to the growth of the PWNA, He is also the reason our new BBs is up and running, Mike is a past president of the PWNA, He's an owner of a pressure washing company, Mike's written articles in our trade magazines, offers assistance and help to those who ask.

David, What I personally can't understand, is why , if you have been a PWNA member for 5 years haven't you offered your experience, expertise, and knowledge in the PW industry to our/ your organization.........

Your in California, probably the toughest state to wash in. Your knowledge alone in environmental practices, water reclaimation issues, chemicals usage, etc should be something you would want to share with others, especially newbee's.

Why haven't you offered to assist us in the various committees we have? We're always looking for help.
Our Mentoring program, writing articles for the PWNA members, Cleaner times magazine, Blastmaster magazine etc.
Helping out with the conventions, planning etc, Speaking, exhibiting, certification courses, we're always looking for people to assist us with those. Heck if your afraid to speak in public, you could always write technical articles, we're always looking for those too.

If you got a little closer you may discover that we are all pretty regular people. All the organization is trying to do is simply educate and help those in the PW world to succeed in business.

David, I'm sure that these BBS's were orginally designed to answer questions to those seeking information in their respective trades.
I for one, welcome you to offer your advice and guidance in posting help to those who ask questions about pressure washing issues, on the new bbs, but not welcome you, if you wish to use it to vent your dislikes of the organization or its members.

If you do become interested in offering your knowlegde to others in the organization, or wish to help on a committee, please feel free to contact me anytime,
my e-mail is woody642@mindspring.com
Thank You

NICE JOB!

Beth

What started out as a simple thing, sure has turned into a big one.
True there are many BBS out there and new ones will always come up. For many reasons, some can not post on all of them, so this variety that is out there does serve a purpose.
Each person has their choice where they will go and choose to learn and help others. Some may like the casual atmosphere of some boards, where they can ask questions and not feel intimidated by their lack of knowledge, where some pro's may not want to see the newbee questions and opt for the PWNA board that may scare away the newbee, since it seems like a structured organization.
Each board has it's place, we are not required to visit or post on any of them, so whether it's 1 or 100 boards, is not the point.
The point is that we are here to learn and share as much as we can, while making a few friends along the way.

Chris

I have nothing against Mike Hiderliter-he has never posted on this BB's. Oh yes thanks for the advise. Hope you have a great summer.

Thanks

David

I can't pass this up-don't blame me or the membership for the condition of PWNA. We pay our dues and I have supported this BB's and Flynn. I have answered questions and have help all that I can. At 57 years old, NOW it is your time to get the job done. Don't critique my life, because you are out of your depth. I have gone to three shows and you have lots of room to improve your product.

David:mad:

Thank you,

Mike Hughes, and Thank You Zippo.......

Ron,
I noticed that my lengthy post adressed to David today ,did not make it up on the board. At first I was insulted, but in retrospect, your probably right. You or whomever decides what gets up on the board is probably right.

As president of the PWNA I probably shouldn't let these silly little grips, comments bother to me, and I should at least show some restraint and professionalism, for that I Thank You.

Jon,
Thank you again for your comments and suggestions, there always intertaining.

It seems that every time anything related to the PWNA comes up, there is a heated discussion over it. People become quite expressive, even vocal, and some might even say offensive. Since I opened this thread up, I feel inclined to respond to David's post. I read it a while back and sort of.... let it simmer for a while.

There's an old adage about a glass of water. That glass is either half full or half empty. And so we can choose to look at many things in life that way. Sure there is room for improvement in anything we do. But when an organization opens up and listens, going so far as to make a rather gutsy move in my opinion such as having a forum on a BBS and inviting ideas and feedback both positive and negative, well that's sounds alot to me like stepping up to the bar and saying, hey we're ready to change - for YOU.

So here were have an improvement that cost a volunteer (OOOPS! there's that word that implies NO pay again) precious time and energy for the betterment of others. In the movie Bambi, Thumper sayss "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". While I might not go that far, I will say that perhaps acknowledging the time and effort of the volunteers who worked hard to build the new board would be nice. It would be nice to also acknowledge that the BBS was at the request of the membership. It's something that many people will use. And while you can't please all of the people all of the time, at least the PWNA is making the effort to please people. Hopefully David, they'll please you too....... eventually.

Dave,

Thanks, The memberships doing great, the new BBS and web site can only help, Thanks for your vote of confidence. The product can only improve. You have a great summer too.

Chris Detter

Chris,

You're quite welcome. The way I see it, improving an organization means not only needing active officers who are willing to work towards betterment for the members, but it also means the members are responsible for achieving that goal too.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
