Carry water on board?

Just wondering how many of you guys carry water on board -vs- going to a hose bib on the job site? We have carried water on board for almost 3 years, it's makes setup quick.

We always just plug in to the customers.. I would rather waste a little time on site, then have the added fuel bill, and wear and tear on the vehicles from dragging water around..

Although I am going to set up a tank in one of our trucks this year for commercial gigs where there simply isnt a plug in close enough..

It costs alot of money to carry around water.

We carry around 50 gallons at a time, it's enough to work on 3 homes if the windows are just standard cleaning.

Jim, there's a big difference in the amount of water needed to wash a house and to wfp the windows.

Ok thats not bad. we can carry about 400 gallons on our rigs.

I always carry water. The type of work I do requires it. If you buy the right truck for the job, the wear and tear is minimized.

I set up an adjustable float valve in my 270 gallon tank. Usually I start with 100 gallons and hook up at the job site. If I need more of a buffer or the site doesn't have water I can start with more. That's on my commercial truck. On my residential van I carry no water.

I usually start with at least 250 gals. At most of my jobs I move at least once and refill at the second location. It does seem to save a few minutes. I just like to get out and work, and not carrying water requires that I would have to connect a bunch of extra times each week. I have some pretty tight routes though. I wouldn't carry a bunch if I had a lot of travel time.

100 gallons at all times. Dual water inlets from 2 sources to supply 2 5.5 gpm's if needed, or looking around for a hydrant to fill up 325 in about 2 minutes in a pinch.

We only carry water if we need it. Less wear and tear on the truck, Brakes ect and better gas when tanks are empty. Since I do scheduling a couple of days in advance my guys may fill take water from the first job, jobs during the day or the last job so they have it first thing in the morning or when they get back I sometimes add water at night. Either way we don't lose any time since all jobs are scheduled in. But if needed we can carry around 900 gallons on the flatbed and 100's of gallons in the red trailer since I had the axels switched out yrs ago to 5500lbs each.
