I agree that the first time will take a little longer to get it to a maintainable condition but like the saying goes, if you let the chems do the work then the rest is easy.
The crew I watched each time has over 20 years experience in fleets, not just a few, but over 20. This guy knows his stuff. He used to post here but nobody wanted to listen to great advice, just talk about how there is no money in fleets and how it takes too long to do them.
This is not detailing trucks/trailers, just washing them and brightening the aluminum when needed, not the engines, underneath the trucks, etc.... Just fleet washing, removing the carbon buildup on the side of the trailer from the stack exhaust, etc...
I know that this post will be just tossed aside or argued about but I felt I needed to say the truth. Usually until someone sees a better way they will believe that there is no better way.

Let the chems do the work. Clean them spot less the first time then the rest of the time is only a fleetwash which means it looks good, but up close you can tell it is not detailed, The first time will take a lot longer but after that you will be suprised on how fast you move through them.

There isn't any money in fleets! You guys don't know what you're talking about. Why waste your time doing that when you can make up to $1500 a week from the comforts of your own home! No physical work required, just rake in the money! I just got the fax yesterday!

Hi Russ! Well, Ash won't like this, but as long as it is local where not a lot of "windshield" time is involved, probably around $15-$20, dependent on whether I'm given the 20 or 40 units to wash. Unfortunately, aggressive competition forces a person to lower his prices. However, when my Dad was running his own mobile truck wash in a small community(pop. 1600), he was getting around $30 for a job like that. A little better average, but he usually had to drive farther than we do to get business. Ther is never a one-price-fits-all for our industry, and unfortunately that is the one downfall of the "national" companies like fleetwash with the flat rate pricing. Even with our contantly striving for efficiency and wash speed, we still can't wash DHL delivery vans for $2 each and make a profit, which is what fleetwash wanted us to wash them for. Honestly, I don't think I could rinse them at that rate!

Blaine, I bid the job a little cheaper than I said. I still haven't heard anything back from it yet. I didn't want to post too much info b/c I think there are some jack-azzes around my area that like to read and take if you know what I mean.

Nope, I didn't get them and I am kinda glad. I washed some trucks a month ago and hated it. For me it is about as much fun as washing a deck. PITA

I took the contract from Ashley, we ar now doing them for 375.00 each twice a week, it's going well. 1175 units and growing, I just forgot where to mail the bill, Ash do you have an address for them ?

Fleet work, white trucks, and low prices.
A couple weeks ago this is what my 5-man crew did.
First stop 10 miles from our shop 28 pieces.
Traveled 95 miles to get to the next stop 37 pieces.
Traveled 50 miles to last stop 95 pieces.
Travel 85 miles to get back to our shop.
All of the units were White and all were brushed!
Five hours travel and meal break, 6 hours on customer sites, eleven hours elapsed time $3225.00.
What do you think; did we make any money that day?

Hello Chris,
in 1996 we raised the roof so we could put in a larger Genset.
In 2000 we rebuilt the back of this truck and here are some pictures of the tank and generator being lowered in the roof.
The Genset sits on the chair shaped water tank. The roof is removable in three sections.
This truck has about 12,000 pounds on the frame in the first 4 feet of the box (Lp tanks, Lp, water tank, water, genset).
